Coping With Bereavement | | | AbstractGrieving affects many people in many different ways; there is no right way or wrong way to grieve. The important thing to remember is to grieve. Do not lock your emotions and feelings deep inside; this is not healthy and may cause further problems in the future. Death is the inevitable; no matter how trying of a time it may be just try to remember life does need to continue and things will get better with time. | The loss of someone close to us can quickly turn our world into chaos and an awkward way of living.
Karen understood that Regina was saying bad things about her, but her message to Regina was not understood. When she claimed to be sick, she was really saying that because she was hurt and didn’t want to hang out. Regina did not understand the message as she should have. It did not achieve its intended effect because Regina didn’t understand that she had hurt Karen. Regina’s message was not ethical when she told Karen not to invite Gretchen.
We need to stop being so out of focus with what’s going on in our life’s and take a second to help some who is actually in need. Gansberg intended for us the readers to realize how blind we can be with what’s going around us. The people in the text could have saved this poor woman’s life. They were to ignorant to see that their actions killed her, by not calling the police. One man went as far as yelling out the window to leave the woman alone thee proceed to do what he was doing before.
Isolation if a person’s significant other cheats on them or dies in a tragic accident that person may never wish to open themselves up again for fear of being hurt or cannot bare to deal with such pain again and choose to be isolated. The way in which the individual resolves each crisis will have a lasting effect on that person’s self-image and view of society. According to the theory, successful completion of each stage results in a healthy personality and successful interactions with others. Failure to successfully complete a stage can result in a reduced ability to complete further stages and therefore a more unhealthy personality and sense of self. The outcome of one stage, however, is not permanent and can be altered by later experiences.
The second reason as to why it is important to overcome your past is: you will be able to get on with your life. The third reason why this theme is relevant is: not overcoming your past may cause you to completely shut down emotionally and physiologically. The last reason why this is so important is: by not overcoming your past you cause yourself to lack confidence. Not overcoming your past could ruin your life, like it almost did Melinda's. First of all, not overcoming your past will cause you to be depressed all the time.
In the beginning, McMurphy is forced to drag the chief out against his will, “that’s what McMurphy can’t understand, us wanting to be safe. He keeps trying to drag us out of the fog, out in the open where we’d be easy to get at” P.114. The fear of standing out and becoming noticed by the Big Nurse is a great part of Bromden’s reluctance to come out willingly. The fog is, on an individual level, a self-induced state of mental dimness and confusion stemming from the delusion and suffering caused by the Big Nurse’s treatment. The fog prevents Chief Bromden from seeing his true situation and true self for a long time, causing him to believe he is weak and become weak due to his belief.
It was evident that she was in the stage of denial. She kept brushing off the fact that his brother is dead. She could not seem to accept that she could not do anything for him to come back. She does not want to recall something terrible and unacceptable that has happened in her life or to his brother perhaps, that even when Porter was telling her about it, she still denies it and does not want to remember it. Most of the time, people repress things because they don’t want to get hurt.
Jan seemed to be downplaying the whole situation because she doesn’t understand why Ken was so concerned about what she had told Shannon due to the fact that they were not even together at the time. I would suggest to Jan that once the conversation has started, and it is in a negative tone, to remember to establish a good climate, communicators confirm each other by recognizing and acknowledging each other’s concerns and feelings (Wood, 2007, p. 235). I would also suggest to Jan to take responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, and issues, Jan was in the wrong for telling Shannon about Ken’s past and instead of Jan owning up to it she was cross-complaining. Cross-complaining occurs when one person’s complaint is met by a counter-complaint (Wood, 2007, p.
Holden is in the confusing process of passing from adolescence and innocence to what he feels is a corrupt adult society. Along the way, Holden has trouble finding identity and security as he isolates himself from his society by shutting out the world and criticizing others who he deems "phonies." Because he is so adamant to criticize the world and reject its values and conventions he consequentially isolates himself from people who try to him along the way through this stressful period of
Seriously the unnecessary use of those words to an extensive amount, I could almost guarantee you that there was a swear word on every page. Another point is the sexual content in this book I find is extremely inappropriate for our age group. I may not of had to read it out loud but I was defiantly not fair to the students uncomfortable with it, I can n barley see people kiss without feeling like I’m invading their privacy. So all in all I did not appreciate those scenes and would recommend not be in our reading criteria. This book is actually banned from some schools in the United States.
