Today the company is best known for their Mac computer line with their iOS operating systems, as well as their innovative products including the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. Their software products include iTunes for media, Safari for web browsing and iLife and iWork productivity suites. In 1980’s Apple Inc grew due to the growth of the personal computer industry. During this decade, Apple also introduced a new interface including icons, windows, and pull down menus. These characteristics are now used in all computer operating systems.
After that, the company released three improved versions of previous computer and developed a good reputation in the electronics field. With the release of iMac in 1998, this organisation became well known and became a competitor for other companies on the market. In 2001, Apple produced the Mac OS X, which had a complete operating system. Its profitability led to creation of first iPod. The latter brought even more profit to the company and was followed by iPhone, Mac book and iPad.
The growing sovereignty of American TNCs, such as McDonalds and Coca Cola, has seen the growth of cultural imperialism of western culture. This has led to an emphasis on consumerism and consumption, growth in democracy and a reliance on technology. It has been argued by some that the world is becoming ‘Americanised’, with American being the dominant global culture. This culture spreads by broadcasting its media and spreading the influence of its companies throughout the world. Four of the 25 largest global companies are American computer companies (Apple, Microsoft, IBM and Dell), which highlights how America is using its technological advancement to spread its culture.

The company founders decided to remove the World Computer from their name, to showcase their expansion strategies within the company. After Apple invented the first mouse driven computer named Macintosh in 1984, the company concentrated on the reinvention of their technology strategies with other electronic equipment. “In 1988, over a million Macintosh computers had been sold, with 70% of sales to the corporation,” (Funding Universe.com). Initially making them the highest ranked in technology of their times.
It was an American Political scandal and a conflict in the 1970’s and also led to the resignation of president Nixon. When president Nixon was running for re-election, there was burglary in the office of Watergate. They learned that the burglars were part of a plan Nixon had, and that the white house held proof. When the held the proof finally rise, congress pressured Nixon to tell them everything. But the proof was then destroyed, eliminating any links from the burglars to the president.
In 1980, American hostages were being held in the U.S. Embassy in Tahran, Iran. President at the time Jimmy Carter lost popularity with Americans during this affair due to his failed rescue attempts. Also during this time period, we were reintroduced to the planet Saturn through the use of the Voyager space probs. Looking toward more space exploration we found a giant hole in our ozone layer over the Antarctic. Technology took a large step forward, introducing the home computer through IBM and Apple.

Eventually, he got frustrated with Jobs’s management with the Macintosh division because of the sluggish sales. Scully and Apple’s board stripped Jobs of all power in May of 1985. In September of that year, Jobs resigned (Isaacson 41). While he was gone, Jobs founded a new computer company, NeXT, and it was very Jobs-like. It was a sleek black cube packed with innovations.
