Can full gender equality in the workplace ever be achieved? Gender equality means that people of difference sexes, but with similar qualifications, should be treated the same way in recruitment, in pay and bonuses, in promotions and job opportunities and generally in the workplace. In today’s society, it seems hard to believe that gender inequality is ever allowed to prevail, but, unfortunately, there are still clear-out instances where a woman doing the same job as a man is paid less. There are also instances of gender discrimination against men, an issue of equal concern, although this essay will concentrate on discrimination against women. I will argue that equal rights between different genders in the workplace are something that modern society should strive to achieve, and that there should never be a situation where a person is treated differently from others simply based on their gender. In my view, gender equality can and should be achieved, but it will not be easy and it will not be dome quickly. It seems that the main thing that gets in the way is that men and women are very different. Men are, on the whole, physically stronger than women, there is some suggestion that men have better spatial awareness than women and it is generally thought that men are less emotional than women. Women, on the other hand, they are generally considered to be better at multi-tasking and are more caring than men. On the whole, therefore, it can be suggested that men and women are good at different jobs The point is that all people are different, all people are good at different things, and so the gerneralisations that can be made about men and women make no difference to the point that there should be gender equality in the work place and that strict checks on inequality should prevent its occurrence.
