A very good morning to our lecturer Dr. Mazura Mastura and to all my fellow friends. The topic for my persuasive speech today is cameras should be installed at traffic lights and other public places to curb crime such as terror attack, burglary, kidnapping, raping and vandalism. FIRST EXAMPLE: TERROR ATTACKS I agree to have video surveillance cameras in public places, because they will help in preventing, detecting and analyzing various untoward incidents like terror attacks. In the year 2008, India's financial capital Mumbai was attacked by Terrorist. The main suspect, Ajmal Kasab, was identified by footage recorded in a CCTV camera. By this we can understand that having surveillance cameras in public places is vital for safety. In public gatherings, video camera's help in monitoring crowds and identifying problems. It also creates sense of protection for the public because of constant vigilance provided by the police. If an area is open to the public, you expect that people will be able to see you, and you have nothing to worry about if you're not committing a crime. The only public places that should not have cameras would be bathrooms or dressing rooms because people expect privacy in those areas. SECOND EXAMPLE: BURGLARY Police believe they have solved at least 20 burglary cases in the affluent Bangsar and Travers area with the arrest of a man here. Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the 21-year-old suspect was detained on Dec 2 at a petrol station in Taman Seri Sentosa. He led police to his home in Pangsapuri KTMB in Bangsar, where they found 99 stolen items, including a Perodua Myvi and computers, keys, hand phones, photo albums and wedding gowns.
