Beyonce’s national anthem “Are you a Beyliever now?” On the Pop Watch’s website, this question was highlighted on the cover page. Beyliever is a combination from Beyonce and believer. Recently, Beyonce finally admitted publicly that she did, in fact, had lip-synched the national anthem at President Obama’s second inauguration. She tried to convince the public she has to do this. However, most people in U.S. didn’t seem like buying it, and began calling her cheater or liar. In my opinion, however, Beyonce lip-syncing the national anthem is forgivable: Huge pressure, high-risk, and uncontrollable factors affected her decision. If they have a perfect performance, they will make the country proud. On the other hand, if they make mistake as long as they just fluff one line, they will botch the whole thing. In 2011, Christina Aguilera botched the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Texas. On the internet, people said she made the national anthem like a crap. After Aguilera’s National Anthem lyrics forgetting disaster, she spent a long time to earn the respectful back. As we can guess, in the inauguration, if Beyonce sing live and make mistake, the publics’ response would be worse. For the show, there are many uncontrollable factors forced Beyonce to use pre-recorded track. Even the performer can practice their singing skill or memorize every word: They still can not predict the situation about weather or instrument. During Obama’s first inauguration, the cellist Yo-Yo Ma had to hand-synched his performance because the 19 degree weather was too cold for his instrument to function properly.
