I can’t honestly believe that they took this god so serious and believe in his Aesir tribe. The Vikings throughout this book are clearly described as invaders bent on death and destruction clash with the iron-willed protectors of any new world. The book talks a lot about the numerous intense battles between the many colonies they came into contact with. The primal violence of these desperate savages, plague the centuries between the eighth and eleventh modern
However, the creation of the monster did not have to result in such horrific acts. Victor was mortified by his creation, and immediately rejected and abandoned it to face the world of judgmental people alone. “Was I, then, a monster, a blot upon the earth, from which all men fled and whom all men disowned?” (Shelly, 108) It is believed that this irrepressible feeling of abandonment and the continuous rejection angered the monster so intensely that he sought to soothe his revengeful soul by murdering those closest to the one whom he felt responsible for
Through his pursuit of playing God, he did not realize that his actions would result in the downfall (death) of him and everyone he loved. Also his pursuit of this dangerous knowledge resulted in the creation of a monster, maybe not completely bloodthirsty, but a monster that was willing to kill. Likewise, the first sin of Adam and Eve was in the pursuit of a dangerous knowledge. Eve was swayed by the serpent, into believing that by eating the fruit in the Garden of Eden, she would gain all of the knowledge of God. This also led to the downfall (death) of he characters.
I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then, but when those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing suck as even Dante could not have conceived.”(pg.49) Each time the monster killed it was a consequence of Victor’s actions. When it murdered William, it was out of confusion and
Today, people suffer around the world with random acts of murder and violence by terrorists; who want to kill all people who do not join in their one group with fanatical ideals about Islam and suppressing women. These examples from real life history are enough proof for me to agree that through dystopias, authors are telling us that the idea of creating perfect societies is actually an act of abuse that creates monsters who disguise themselves as leaders. The Greatest Good for the Greatest Number of People A dystopian society is unpleasant and is made up of people who are repressed and have no rights to their own opinions and choices of life styles, like hair, clothing, religion, going to school and sometimes even driving a car. For example, in the Twilight Zone film, Number 12 Looks Just Like You, a young girl was being told that she had to choose between being transformed into Number 8 or Number 12 of styles of beautiful women. She had no choice, because she was going to be transformed into one of these two, through plastic surgery; even though she said she did not want a new body, new face, new hair or new
Good Versus Evil in Beowulf An anonymous Anglo-Saxon author composed Beowulf, an epic poem, in which good triumphs against evil. A variety of despicable monsters constantly threaten the people of Denmark providing a need for a noble warrior, Beowulf. The repetitive struggle to save humanity demonstrates the forces of good versus evil through The Battle with Grendel, The Battle with Grendel’s Mother, and The Battle with the Dragon. The initial battle, The Battle with Grendel, begin the fight of good versus evil. Grendel, a savege beast, continually devoured the people of Denmark, bloodthirsty, “ He moved quickly through the cloudy night […] Towards that shinning hall”(289-291).
However, Grendel lacked humanness and remained as “the Creator had condemned” (line 107), in other words he become a ruthless creature. Grendel’s falling can be compared to devil’s fall. He worked evil into the world just as devil
Frankenstein and Prometheus both act as a god or a creator. They create life with unnatural processes. Prometheus creates human from clay and water, and Frankenstein combines different human parts and animal organs to create a new human being. They give their creatures the most important elements for life; Prometheus brings the fire to humans, and Chen 2 Frankenstein uses lightning to animate the creature. Both elements are unpredictable and dangerous.
Through the actions committed in the play, Victor Frankenstein becomes one of the most monstrous characters in the story. The first steps to becoming a monster take place in the very beginning of the story, and Victor complete isolates himself from society and alienates his family. Victor does this more than once in the novel, once when creating the first creature then again when attempting to create
ODIN Norse mythology started during the Viking times about the years of 750 AD to 1050 AD. Viking means sudden raider, which was the way the Vikings acted. The Norse people valued courage, bravery, honor and strength as traits for the Norse gods. But they also believe that gods could be killed. From these myths Odin became the most powerful of all the Norse gods and he also ruled Valhalla.
