Davian McEwan Cynthia Fontaine Dean Foundations 19 October 2012 Behavior during Exam There are different ways people chose to take exams, most people study ahead so they can be well prepared for the test and then you have others that wait till the night before to study. Still are differences in how they both scores on the test, people who study days or even weeks ahead for the test can do worse than the person that only studied for that night. Why is that? People can suffer from anxiety, and anxiety is a huge thing. With anxiety people will start thinking too hard, forget the material get worried and fail the exam. Students were tested on how fast or how long it took them do the test, the students didn’t differ much from the ones that got done first from the ones that used the time to finish the test, which showed that good and bad students are among early and late finishers. Then it went down to the skill of the questions were asked on the exam. The high and low ability to answer the question that was asked on the exam, students who skip questions with the higher ability scored higher than the students with the lower ability. Then students were experimented with a test that would go towards their grade and extra credit if they volunteered students that volunteered there were 129 from the list and 60 of students were chosen, had to think out loud and they were split up into three groups based on the performance of their three previous 70 question exam. And the 20 “A” students scored greater than 90, “C” students had averages of 70-76 and “F” students scored an average of 60 and each group was consisted of 12 females and 8 males. Then they tested “M” students which were allowed as much time to complete the exam, which was still 70 questions.
