Final exams are a time of stress for students to worry about if they can recall all the lessons that their professors have went over within that semester. Students who are scarcely passing any of their classes need their final exams to be passing grades, so they tend to study a little harder. Finals also allow students to see how all the lessons they have learned connect through small facts. Identifying and understanding thoroughly everything the professor particularly emphasizes in class can be a hard and tough experience when preparing to study for finals. In Joy Alonso’s “Two Cheers for Examination “she uses examinations to examine the purposes and useless of exams in two and four year colleges to appear to students and teachers.
Results of Research After receiving back 80 completed copies of our surveys our group started to look at the figures, first by each grade then as a whole. Our first major result was from the question, “Do you believe cheating occurs in Perry Hall High School?” Our subjects’ response was a whopping 97% believe that cheating does occur at our school. This showed us that the students, who see a different perspective from teachers and administrators, are pretty positive that Perry Hall High isn’t exempt from this academic integrity epidemic. The next significant question that we asked was if the student had ever done any of the following which included copying or lending homework, cheating on tests, plagiarizing, and also the option never
These kinds of test have been going on for years but they have not put as much importance as they do now. Kids are getting stressed out due to these tests so by the time they take the test they have used all the energy cramming to learn what is on the test. In the past there was no added stress because the outcome of the test did not decide the outcome of their future. If they do bad on test then it creates a domino effect, these test decide who these kids are. It decides if they go into remedial, regular, or advanced classes.
Devin Dufrene Essay 4 April 14, 2009 Failure Failure! Some students are afraid of it, Then again some students are given grades and passed anyway. Students should not be given grades and diplomas if they did not learn the necessary information and earn the grade. In this essay I will respond on how I agree with Mary Sherry in “In Praise of the F Word “on how students are hurt later in life First, if student doesn’t learn necessary information in high school he or she will not be able or having a lot off trouble in the after life with college or there new job. In example, if a student gets by in his English class not caring and not trying to learn, but his teacher likes the student so he passed him, when that student goes to college he will have trouble because he doesn’t know how to write a correct essay because he was given the grade.
Struggling Middle School Reader: Successful, Acceleration Intervention Rosemary Papalewis Leah Sykes-Rangel ED 385 Mrs. Melissa Mainiero Sept. 24, 2010 Many students repeat the 8th grade because their reading skills are not proficient enough for them to move on. In fact, Torgeson and Burgess both agree that one child in eight who show signs of reading difficulties at the end of their first grade year rarely obtain reading skills along their current level. Teachers more than often enough are to blame. However, outside forces such as a student not attending class regularly or financial burdens also play a role as well. Whatever the case may be, reading levels are quickly declining instead of accelerating.

Imagine your child who is a 4.0 student who has made outstanding grades their entire life sit down to take one test that dictates their future. How heartbreaking would it be for that child to make a score on their ACT that doesn’t truly dictate their intelligence due to test taking anxiety? The Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) recognizes test taking anxiety as a serious disorder. In a test that only allows an average of one hour per section, any of these symptoms could destroy all self-confidence as well as opportunity to do well on a standardized
High school students nationwide are expected to take the widely despised SAT. The SAT is supposed to show the value of a student’s knowledge, but they fail miserably. A solid GPA says a lot more than one test. Something should be done. The SAT has caused much stress through the years, and for a useless purpose.
She said, “I’d get 30 mean questions or messages a day,” and, “Most of them were like, ‘Just kill yourself.’ ” Due to her anxiety caused by bullying, Jillian was allowed to dropout of school (Denziet- Lewis). As reported by Mayo Clinic, anxiety can also lead to substance abuse, insomnia, digestive problems, headaches and chronic pain, social isolation, problems functioning at school or work, and suicide. The effects from having anxiety are too great to be ignored. Few schools implement strategies to deal with bullying, stress, and their high expectations, causes of anxiety, and more schools need to take actions to support students with anxiety by decreasing the factors that induce
