Becoming An Educator

The goal of the majority of the students in this class is to become a teacher of students who strive to learn. We would like to be the guide that helps them choose to better themselves through educational pursuits. To accomplish this I must start with the goal of finishing my educational goals within the next five years. First, I will finish my associate degree within the next year then obtain a substitute teaching position in a public school district while I pursue my bachelor's degree. From this experience, I will then determine whether my 10 year goal will be to teach at a public or private religious school. From then my goal will be the inspiring of one of my students to become an educator themselves. If I can obtain these goals I will have lived a life worthy of an educator, a person dedicated to the pursuit of learning, then after I have accomplished this it will be time to reflect on if this was a noble pursuit. The educational career I have decided to pursue is that of a history teacher in a middle school. First by obtaining my secondary education degree will allow me to apply for certification in a Texas public school district middle school. Additional certification by the state of Texas will be required including Texas Examinations of Educator Standards ( TEXES) certification exam. Additional study in the period of history that I will teach will enhance my ability to teach history effectively. Online courses, books, articles written by the media, documentaries, and historical documents are all forms of study I will use. Being able to then connect this historical event to other events in history will be of paramount importance. Lastly, the ability to convey this information to a classroom of students in an interesting manner will be the key to my success.
