I took the regents for the third time in January 2011 and again, I didn’t pass. I continued taking the Algebra II Trigonometry class after school, and again took the regents in June of 2011. I passed all my other regents tests including Geometry that month and when I got my results for the Algebra II Trigonometry Regents, I started crying. I finally passed. I was so happy that I didn’t have to worry about the stress of this topic anymore.
Erica Goldson Valedictorian Speech Response Erica Goldson brought up a very controversial and very interesting topic about our current education system in the US. She states that students are so focused at memorizing data and getting good grades, that they miss out on the whole idea of learning and being educated. I agree with her, students should be learning and absorbing the material, instead of memorizing for the next big test and just forgetting about it later on. Graduating seems like the top priority in students nowadays, and to me that is just upsetting. And the students who are very talented and are very motivated to learn and be driven in a non-academic subject seem to have a more negative image than the people who are driven by academics.
Some students get so worked up about the test they can’t even get through it (par.3). Even though the article “Standardized Tests” states that “testing is a normal and expected way of assessing what students have learned and the vast majority of students do not exhibit stress and have positive attitudes towards taking a standardized test like the FCAT,” (par.10). J. Lang Wood, author of many short stories and author of“Negative Effects of the FCAT” begs to differ. According to Lang Wood she claims students are exposed to a “climate of continuous stress” (par. 2).
I did well on these questions, missing very few. Initially, I thought this would serve as a solution to overcoming my fear of testing. That is until I returned from the ACT testing center on my final test day. No amount of preparation and fact retention will help an individual with test anxiety. It is something that is hard to understand if you haven’t experienced it firsthand.
You try to make not a lot of noise somehow everyone still ends up staring as you walk out. The CAHSEE is worse because if you don't pass, you won't graduate. Congratulations LAUSD, you've managed to make our lives even more stressful than they already are. Some may see the CAHSEE as easy as ABCs but not everyone does. I think the CAHSEE is out of the question, there's already other tests in the end of year to make sure we're learning.
Taylor Seda Film Paper #1 Good Will Hunting COM219 W4. Good Will Hunting “I also put an advanced Fourier system on the main hallway chalk board, and I am hoping that one of you might prove it by the end of the semester. Now, the person to do so will not only be in my good graces, but also go on to fame and fortune by having their accomplishment recorded and their name printed in the auspicious M.I.T TECH. Former winners include noble laureates, fields medal winners, renowned astrophysicists, and lowly M.I.T professors.” This is a quote spoken by one of the main characters in the movie Good Will Hunting, Professor Gerald Lambeau. Good Will Hunting is an astounding movie that adjusts ones perspective on life and the lives of others around us almost immediately.
She explains how her son’s English teacher with unusual way instead of moving him to front row made him to be more serious about learning and specific English .The result was unbelievable, he finished that class with A grade .First Sherry was shocked when the teacher said “I flunk them” then she realized that would be helpful for her son. There are many styles for teaching which looks not proper for first time then after a while when you understand how that help to improve majority of students grades, you will start to believe that style’s advantage. So now we can say F word which author is used in her essay’s title is “Flunk.” Author explains about students who sadly have no motivation to continue their education and are resentful for passing any test which in their mentality they are already
Which made me wonder if he was "getting it" I realized I had begun to explain it a little to mathematically, I had taken it away from the fun Jessica Watson and gone in to the usual way of teaching maths . When I took it back to the factors that effected Jessica, and why she may not have always had the same amount of travel each day the interest was ignited. One of the children commented that they couldn't believe that all this fun maths was in the paper. That to me was priceless to see that they were using skills they already had and applying it in a way that was opening up their understanding to the
Although they are taught to the test, these students have no special modifications while taking the test, which causes numbers to drop on the Adequate Yearly Progress report. Although supports of No Child Left Behind credit the policy for exposing test-score gaps among student groups, they also acknowledge its mechanism for labeling schools that didn't make progress is too broad, its mandated tutoring remedies rarely boost student achievement and the 2014 goal that 100 percent of U.S. students be deemed "proficient" in science and math is unrealistic (Resomvits, J.,
Green Shelton Peavy ENGL 1301.TM015 December 13, 2012 Insignificant High School Diplomas The essay, “In Praise of the ‘F’ Word” was written by an English major, Mary Sherry, who was also a founder and owner of a small research and publishing firm in Minnesota. The credibility of Mary Sherry goes to show that since she was a teacher and a mother to a high school student, she has already seen how high school students only do the bare minimum to get their diplomas. The education system in America is not one of the best ranked countries in the world and it is no wonder why when high schools are handing out diplomas to students who do not put in the effort. This topic is an important issue because education relies on generation after generation
