Martin Luther King Jr. helped shape the society we live today and continues to have an influence on civil rights reforms today. Many philanthropic groups have formed to carry out the visions inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. such as The King Center, NAACP and the National Civil Rights Museum. I believe that Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement represented a positive social change on American society today. Without them, society today would not be what it is today; People would not be able to walk proud and live in peace and equality and be happy with who they were regardless of race. While I still feel that society has a long way to go in regards to discrimination of race I feel that we have also come a long way.
Booker T Washington believed that in order to have an equal society the blacks and other minorities that were slaved had to work with and not against the whites. Form a symbiotic relationship where all could benefit and become equal. Once they had training and
The organization guides the African Americans now to the solution of the problem presented in section one. Green imposes “[their] duty” to not complain about the past, but to focus on the time of the future. This creates the basis of what the African Americans need to undertake. Green then repeats “let us” throughout the section, affirming their call to action and uniting them as one. By asserting the organization of problem-solution, Green leaves the audience with the solution.
All races need to bond together in a deeper way then just physically, the bond must extend spiritually and socially through all races for equality and respect to exist. Both Martin and Malcolm lead you to believe that racism isn’t a central problem of American society but rather racism is a religious and spiritual problem. The Main conflict of these great leaders was MLK Jr. was ok with integration and thought that whites could be persuaded into realizing that blacks and whites were equal. He also thought that whites and blacks should come together not only physically through segregation but also spiritually and religiously to create a brotherhood of all whites and blacks. This would create a bond of all races and finally equality for everyone would happen.
I had always looked at diversity in terms of race but diversity works with different people from race, culture, sex, and age. Diversity gives not only the workplace but the United States as well, the ideas and skill to make a better place. In order for
If this was true back then, why does it not apply to today’s society? We are viewed as equal and we should all find other ways to make money, then we will grow stronger in our society and in our relationships with others. In order to keep the United States of America on moral high ground, it is a necessity that slaves
“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the, American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” (Martin Luther King) "My message to the world is that we must come together and live as one." As stated by the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement", Rosa Parks , after standing her ground in trying to end segregation. She earned this nickname after standing up to the racial and social injustices that were still taking place due to Jim Crow legislation in the south during the 1950s.
Making improvement to the church’s finances Martin became the highest paid black pastor of his time (Hodgson 21). The church had enough money to send King Sr. by boat to attend the World Baptist meeting in Germany. He stopped in Paris, Rome, Egypt, and to the Holy land. On his trip to Germany Michael King, Sr. decided to change his name to Martin Luther King and when he returned to Georgia he changed his son’s named to Martin Luther King Jr. (Hodgson 20). King Sr. became a strong black leader in Atlanta he was appointed president of the NACCP to help the social reform (Carson 5).
On September 18, 1895 during the Exposition Booker T. Washington said that he wants to do more to improve and cement the relationships between the African-American and the white races and to start on the path of Industrial Progress. Booker also wanted not only to make peace with the white man, but with everyone regardless of race and Nationality. Booker T. Washington also wanted the two races to prosper in all things and areas like agriculture, mechanics in commerce, in domestic service and in all profession’s. Booker T. Washington said that the greatest danger of all is the transition from slavery to freedom that people will overlook that all of them must live by working together and they will only survive and thrive by dignifying and glorifying common labor and skills. (To me, I think Booker T. Washington was the best advocate for the African-American because he seems to connect to me better in how I would like to pursue my life as an African-American).
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” As the result of a distinctly positive progression of decreasing of racial discrimination, representatives of all existing races in our society have the same rights, and are able to obtain the same quality of education. Many prominent African-Americans have proved the world that they are not the second class population and put a lot of effort into the reduction of racism not only in the United States, but also around the world. The United States has moved a long way from prejudice and discrimination of human rights; Barack Obama only proves that. However, racism still exists in cultural, social, and political aspects of our lives. I believe that the only way to reduce
