Athens was in fact a democracy and though it gave more freedom to its citizens, there were just too many people to run the government in anyway but chaotic. Athens assembly was composed of over 6,000 male citizens who voted on the laws. Sparta also had an assembly made up of male citizens who voted on the laws. Sparta and Athens both had a council. The major difference being that Athens council of five hundred men were chosen by lottery.
One of the major differences between the two is Government. Classical Athens and Han China governments were completely different. The government consists of structure of government and the citizens. The Athens had a form of government where the citizens had the rights to vote to decide on the political choices, which is known as democracy. In “the oration of Pericles” (D)” Our form of government is called democracy because it administration is in the hands of the peoples” democracy government of Athens was the first democracy, but it was barley a democracy since only the male citizens controlled the government.
In Athens if you were actively involved in politics you were high in class. Another similarity between these classical civilizations was that women did not have as great of rights as men (documents 2 and 3). Men were thought to be the workers that do the jobs and participate in politics. Women were expected to stay at home and raise a family. On document 3 it says that “women make up 50% of ever category except for bureaucrats and appointed officials, who were male only.

The British political system has no such formal separation of the powers. Until recently one person was a member of all three arms of government, since the Lord Chancellor was a member of the Cabinet (the executive), a member of the House of Lords (the legislature) and the head of the legal system (the judiciary). In the United States, because of the separation of the powers, no Cabinet member is allowed to be a member of the Congress. In Britain, every Government Minister must be a member of one of the two Houses of Parliament and, if he or she is not already in the Parliament, he or she is made a peer. This changed the way power was distributed within the government, due to the Constitution.

Athenian citizens were able to vote and use their voices to help change things and better the community. An oligarchy is a form of government in which the ruling power is in the hands of a few leaders.
Sparta obviously has a more, fit military than Athens; thus, Sparta is a better civilization than Athens. A Spartan girl was more skilled than an Athenian girl. An Athenian girl was not given an education. Instead she learned the important household work, like cooking, sewing, weaving, and spinning. A Spartan girl received a public education.
The difference between having a degree and just a high school diploma is over $18,000 per year. If I had to choose one reason for seeking a college degree it would be the motivation by my peers at work, and later by my parents, neither of which went to college. After coming off of a two-year mobilization in Fort Knox, KY I decided to finally start my secondary education with American Military University and take advantage of the Tuition Assistance that the Army provides. Since starting school, I have been able to identify my personal learning style, strategies for taking tests, and how important structure is in my day-to-day life. Being able to identify myself as a kinesthetic or tactile learner has helped me realize that hands-on instruction works best for me, and how to stay engaged in things that may not hold my attention completely.
