Babies are innocent and should not be murdered. Mother Teresa once quoted “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child...
Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before the fetus is viable (Fremgen, 2012There are two types of abortions, a spontaneous abortion and an induced abortion. A spontaneous abortion is one that occurs naturally, usually referred to as a miscarriage. An induced abortion is one that is caused by artificial means such as medication or a surgical procedure to destroy the fetus (Fremgen, 2012). The induced abortion is where the controversy and ethical issues arrive. Pro-Choice advocates contend that choosing abortion is a right of a woman that should not be limited by the government or religious authority (Abortion ProCon.org.).
Thomson creates three hypothetical analogies that further explain why an abortion is permissible for each case. For the sake of argument, Thomson’s initial premise for all cases is that a fetus is a person. The debate with Thomson’s claim is whether or not her hypothetical analogies work to conclude that abortions are permissible in certain cases. Thomson argues abortions are permissible in rape cases by using a hypothetical situation where an individual has been kidnapped against their will and awakens medically attached to a famous violinist, allowing him to survive only through the use of your kidneys. If you detached yourself from the violinist, he will certainly die; therefore, to continue the analogy, you have to lie there for the nine months it will take to rehabilitate his kidneys.
Abortion Abortion is one of the biggest controversial issues in the U.S. ever since the roe vs. wade decision in 1973. This legalized that a woman could chose to abort her baby in the earlier months of pregnancy without restriction until the baby had reached a certain stage of growth. It passed because mothers were experiencing painful side effects or having bad health from being pregnant. Women were having abortions at first because they thought abortion was the only way out. Those women who are considering abortion because of personal issues should choose adoption instead.
Having an abortion is killing an innocent person for insignificant reasons. If other people get killed or put into jail for killing other people then why, shouldn’t women who choose to abort their pregnancies? It is the same thing. Whether or not the baby is wanted, all people who kill any human being in any way need to be punished. If the mother and or father wasn’t allowed or didn’t want a child in the first place then as a couple they should have decided to be abstinent until they were ready to take on the responsibilities of having and taking care of a
The viability of the foetus is an ethical issues of abortion legislation the current law is set at 24 weeks this is the time up until the 24th week when a woman can choose to have an abortion sometimes after if the mother’s life is at risk. The 24 week law was brought in the 1967 abortion act although the law is set at 24 weeks people state issues like babies are born and survive at 24 weeks and that when does life actually begin different beliefs systems and medical views differ on when does life actually begin Christians argue that is begins at birth and medical views are split is it when human features are visible or when the heart starts beating. The next issue is the feminist views that in the original abortion act it was mainly men involved in the deliberation of the act and see this as unfair as women should have an input as it is them that it affects the lack of women MPs in 1960 and 1990 when the amendments were made. The woman should be able to decide what is legal and what is not as she has to carry the baby and give birth to it and she has the right to decide anything that happens to her body a woman should be able to have an abortion on ‘demand’ (at any point). The feministic views of mary anne warren is that the foetus can be seen as an unjust aggressor and the just war theory can be put into use for the use of abortion as the foetus is seen to be invading the woman’s territory Judith Jarvis Thomson claims that the foetus can be seen as an intruder breaking into someone’s ‘property.
This will prevent women from having the maximum abortions allowed in one state and then having them done in another state in the unfortunate event that she become pregnant with yet another child. I feel that after two abortions within a ten year time span and being no less than five years apart that birthcontrol should be a mandatory requirement. This would force women to use a second form of contraception and help prevent pregnancy. I also feel that in the event that contraception such as the depo shot or birth control pills should fail a women that their form of contraception should be re-evaluated with the help of a doctor. I feel at this point when a woman has her third abortion a device such as the inter uterine device also known as the I.U.D should be considered I even think depending on a womans situation and circumstances such as how many children she may already have at home should be considerd and feel that some women should be required to have their tubes tied ( Tubal Ligation).
The majority of the argument comes into play with the question of when life begins. Pro-life people suggest that life begins at the moment of conception; this is when the foetus begins its development in the womb of the mother. There are also people who are pro-choice; they believe that life begins from the moment of birth. This then gives the parents the option to kill their unwanted child. The legal limit to get an abortion in the UK is 24 weeks into the pregnancy.
Abortion should be outlawed Bertha Ritchie English 101 Instructor CB Droege, MAE 8/31/12 Nobody should have the legal right to take away someone’s life. Women shouldn’t be granted the right to kill for any reason. Abortion is taking away life no matter how small, unseen or undeveloped that life may be it should be seen as murder. Abortion is killing and going against our humanity. There is only love and hate it’s up to us to choose between them.
It is not a social issue of mere preferences, but an issue about life and death. Abortion draws out the clashes between two divergent schools of thought. Proponents- identifying themselves as pro-choice argue that abortion is a fundamental right that should not be restricted by governmental authority whereas, Opponents- identifying themselves as pro-life, assert that personhood begins at conception, and therefore abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being. Although some people claim that abortion poses a threat to humanity because it involves killing a human being as life starts at conception, however, abortion legalization is important as access to legal abortions reduces maternal death and injuries, for the need to save woman’s life, in the cases of rape to preserve woman’s mental health, fetal impairment, due to resource limitation and finally it is a woman’s fundamental right to control her body. One of the most important factors for legalizing
