The Body’s Biggest Issue: Smoking Why are people all over the Earth choosing to smoke? The nicotine inside of a cigarette is causing people’s brains to be addicted to cigarettes. Smoking is causing humans die early in life, and not only that, but it is affecting other people in the world who do not smoke. Smoke is all over Earth. Smoke comes out of buildings when there is a fire tearing the building down, or when fire is being used to cook food. People should not be inhaling smoke, since it is the same thing that can destroy a building. Smoking can lead to pollution of the air, which then affects other people breathing in that air, because the smoke is entering their lungs. “Thirty percent of Americans reportedly have moderate to severe periodontitis. It is caused by smoking, but it also can happen to people who have never smoked before,” (Sutton 7). The fact that people who do not even smoke and have periodontitis is outrageous, and needs to be stopped. Parents who smoke are setting bad examples for their children, and not only that, but the smoke coming from the cigarette the parent is smoking can reach the child’s lungs and give them extreme health risks, especially when it comes to its effect on the heart and blood vessels. According to new research done by scientists, the spouse and children of a smoker may suffer almost as much as the one actually smoking the cigarette ("love your family?" 88). Sure, smoking can increase human’s health risks, but more than that, people are dying at a rate of 438,000 deaths each year only in the United States, and 300,000 of those deaths are people who are 65 years and
