When I was a kid I used to live with my mother and my grandparents, I grew up without knowing my father, but I was happy because my grandparents always bought me everything I wanted, at that time I was the only child at home. Later my Mom got married, and I had two brothers. I learned how to share my toys with them, and I got a stepfather who taught me many good things because he is a good and hard working man. My Mom is lucky. Before I finished the high school, I started to work for a big tools company as a salesman helper (where I learned many new things).
Balbir and his brother are very close and Balbir's family lived with his brother for two months when first coming to Canada. Although they were close siblings Balbir's brother could no longer provided them with housing. This lead to Balbir and his family moving out and finding an apartment in horrible conditions. With both him and his wife working at minimum wage money and time was both tight. When Ikram's school social worker told them join an immigrant serving agency, this worked with the family because they would be able to learn new skills which can help them improve their lives in Canada.
Hello my name is Christian Garcia and I’m here you to tell you about my experiences that have impacted my life towards the right direction. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in December of 93, growing up I didn’t have much. My parents struggled to pay rent but thanks to god he at least helped us have food on the table for me, my older sis, and younger sister which was born later on. I wasn’t the smartest kid, but I’d like to say I was a late bloomer which helped me later on in middle school to work hard, and earn success the old fashion way. I had several opportunities that could have changed my educational and personal life, but I chose not to.

The parents today tell their children to do well in school and bring that education back to help out their people. Just knowing some people who dropped out of school getting pregnant and got their GED are now still at home relying heavily on government handouts but they seem to have some money in their pocket to go out and buy beer. A lot of elders don’t even have a high school diploma or even a college degree but they rely on their social security checks they get every month, local chapters, and the
Second generation immigrants struggle with belonging in part because of the struggle their parents go through. They feel disconnected to their heritage and don’t understand where their parents are coming from. Despite these extra challenges, belonging is still very important to second generation immigrants. As a parent temporarily living in a second culture, I can attest to some of the difficulties first generation immigrants go through. Because I lived for 45 years in my first culture, adjusting to this second culture has been difficult.
Lazara Suarez Thomas Mullen ENW107 Year Round School School is very important for everybody around the word. It is undoubtedly socializing agent per excellence within a community, complementing the work. Also family is essential, unable to be supplemented neither one nor the other. At school children and adolescents impregnate with cultural values that leaders choose to covey. It is also a place where everybody learns to share, and bond birthing that often accompany lifetime.
After a month my mom also got job so after that we spent our life with ease but at the same time we were saving money. Next trouble was we all had to stay dependent on ride because of lack of car. We were walking to Wal-Mart and other stores to get grocery. It was hard but we did it also in winter too I still remember that me and my mom were walking 2-3 miles every day from work to house. So probably after one year we got our first used car.
The book Phoenix Rising by Karen Hesse is one of the best books I have read in school. When I began reading it I did not understand the title, but as I read more I began to understand. Nyle is a young who cannot accept losses. Except when the accident in Cookshire took place she had to learn how to let go. Nyle’s Grandma allowed two evacuees, a mother and her very sick son, to settle in her house until the boy got better.
In the last story The Most Dangerous Game, A man is forced to survive in ways he didn’t know were possible. Throughout all three stories, the main characters learn a life lesson, grow as people, and change from the experience they have been put in. In the story Marigolds, the main character Lizbeth is experiencing conflict in her life. Her conflict is that she is forced to become an adult. “Each morning our mother and father trudged wearily down the dirt road and around the bend (Pg50).” The parents did everything they could to support the family.
