Are Cell Phones Dangerous for Health?

The number of people subscribing to cell phone is rising at a very fast clip day by day. There are estimated to be almost three billion users of cell phones around the world. A low level energy of radio frequency is emitted with every cell-phone-call since the antenna of the cell phone yields radio waves transmitting voices between the cell phones in a wireless connection. The amount of radiation to which a cell phone user is exposed to depends upon the duration for which he/she stays on the phone, the way he/she holds the instrument to his/her ears and the place or area where he/she uses the instrument. Numerous investigations have been conducted to determine the association between the use of the cell phone and the occurrence of brain tumors. However, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in US has explicitly denied any direct correlation between the two. NCI suggests that just one among 165 persons is found to possess cancer within the nervous system during the course of a lifetime. This infers that brain cancer is a rare disease while the use of cell phones has been highly common over a span of a decade that further implies that if the radiation levels in cell phones were hazardous then a greater number of people would have been found to suffer from brain tumors or other diseases that are considered to be instigated from cell phone radiations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in US together with the International Association for Wireless Telecommunications Industry have found in their study that radio frequency radiations resulting from cell phones do not cause adverse health conditions. Furthermore, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) of US issued a report on "Research and Regulatory Efforts on Mobile Phone Health Issues" affirming, in view of scientific evidence, that cell phone radiation does not directly affect health, however, more investigation
