My all-time favorite song from Colbie is Bubbly. That song had me dancing and singing with her. What I did notice Colbie isn’t a dancer she is more a guitar player. I love the fact that Colbie does know how to play the guitar. It’s amazing how the artist can play and sing at the same time.
The texture remains fairly constant but with use of panning (bass guitars are panned with one to the left and one to the right. The uses of many smaller motifs that can be repeated and changed were common in this period. Reich used many ostinati, but they all originated from one usually randomly-composed bar. This bar could be altered in many ways such as retrograded, inverted, diminished, augmented or retrograde inverted. Although they all came from one bar, they all sound more individual and unique, although the sense of repetition is still there, it at least creates a variety in the piece to ensure the audience does not get bored.
Adding it all together, it felt like each sound worked together to get this awesome combination of sounds. Most of their songs sounded homophonic, but obviously, the song Amazing Grace was monophonic. I wasn’t sure if Ovambo Summit was monophonic because there were some vocals but those weren’t played throughout the song. Also, many of their songs seemed to switch from monophony to homophony to polyphony during different sections. A lot of the songs had a fast rhythm but there were a few slow ones such as Lover’s leap, especially during the steel drum solo that made me feel peaceful and like I could float off into dreams.
The next piece performed is Christopher Columbus. Throughout the song, there is a good low brass sound. Crisp, clean, and in tune. The Piano solo in this song is one to remember; Free and flowing, but on the beat. “How about you” featuring Rebecca Leuber was a bit sloppy.
I also really enjoyed when the two guys would beep bop while they were playing. The two would sing notes and it really worked very well together. Another part that was my favorite was the female student who did a cover of Bob Marley. First Bob Marley is not jazz at all, and rather just reggae. So I was very interested in hearing how they were going to prepare for this.
I always want to dance and it changes my mood instantly. I also love that anyone can play/ sing soul music. It doesn't matter what color you are, if you feel it within then you can play

Olivia Lashlee Professor Feick English Composition 1 16 September 2011 The One and Only K$ Although most people tend to ridicule this famous person, Kesha Rose Sebert happens to interest me in a very positive way. Known as Ke$ha, this girl knows how to bring skill to the stage and stand out tremendously. When it comes to celebrities, I only admire the ones that have a great personality. I also feel that a unique style is crucial in order to hold my attention. Last, but not least, I remain fascinated in those who have awesome talent.
Regardless of the criticism she soon became a trend setter. She was a model for women in both dress and action, again just like Barbie. Some people disputed that "Gibson Girl" as a national standard for feminine beauty. They felt she would disturb social order but in fact most women welcomed the change (Gibson Girl, 2010). The caricature image became very popular representing American girls.
Music is a great thing and can provide some great feelings and really sets the mood in social situations. This is why I believe this premise is plausible; there are many genres in music these days some include rock n roll, pop, jazz and one that really can relate to this argument which is soul music. Soul music bases its lyrics and tunes off of what they believe can enhance and enrich our souls, along with their own beliefs incorporated into the songs with beats that anyone can jam along with. One musician who always has stuck out his head and jammed to his own beat was artist Jimi Hendrix, he was by far in my eyes the best guitarist every to walk the earth. Listening and watching videos of his live performances really got my soul screaming out to his irresistible lyrics, he put all his heart and soul into his lyrics.
