As the gathering begins it is obvious that the relationship between Tom and Myrtle is more legitimate than Daisy believes it to be. With this being the second time Nick is drunk the event continues to be very dramatic with arguments flaring constantly and the alcohol being the purpose of the arguments, it becomes apparent that Myrtle needs Tom more than he necessarily needs her, although Catherine, Myrtle’s sister, claims that they are only staying with their partners for reasons they can’t control. After that night Ardis asked about Brennan’s work at a local bookstore, finding out that he took all of his work out of the shops because he didn’t want unworthy people to read it. On her way home she passed his house and came across his dog who followed her home. After bringing him back to Brennan’s house she could see that he wanted to go inside, so for some odd reason she decided to go inside.
In chapter two of the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald introduces many narrative aspects to the reader through different techniques used. This essay will discuss the setting, characterisation and Narrative voice throughout Chapter using form, language and structure. The setting described in chapter one is enormously differentiated to the setting in chapter two. The vivid description of The Valley of Ashes is showing the contrast to Tom’s luxurious party. Nicks description lacks colour, “ash grey men, who move dimly, and already crumbling through the powdery air,” the specific language used creates the dull, yet detailed description which highlights the poor results of an economic boom in America 1920’s.

Then she asks what she can have after he dies. He gets angry and walks away. His neighbor from the Hmong family, Thao, comes over for jumper cables and Walt gets angry and insults him.
Georgeann begins to cry and explains to her teacher that she is defending Rose-Johnny’s honor. Georgeann becomes overwhelmed because of the fight she just encountered with the mattox boy and hiding the fact that she had any communications with her, she runs to the Welch store to visit rose-Johnny. From hanging out with Rose-Johnny many problems have occurred such as Mary Etta, Georgeann’s sister getting attacked by one out of the four boys of the mattox boys who georgeann fought. Mary Etta’s favorite dress that she worn the day of her attack was torn off and stained with dirt. Her face was swollen and there were marks on her neck.
Explaining that these changes are due to Daisy being over more often, he just wants to impress her, but keep the secret of their affair. Gatsby also asks Nick to attend a lunch at the Buchanan’s house with him and Daisy calls soon after to make certain that he will be going over. The next day at the Buchanan’s the atmosphere is tense. As the day goes on Tom decides they are all going to New York City, then declares he will drive Gatsby's yellow car. When Tom orders Daisy to come with him she refuses, going alone with Gatsby in Tom's blue coupe.
