The eagles also have a white head, neck, and tail. They have yellow feet and a yellow bill. They also have black claws. The bald eagle weighs up to 14 pounds. Females are slightly heavier than the male. Bald eagles have no voice box. Sound is produced in the syrinx which is next to the trachea. Eagle’s wings help them with turbulence. They can fly as high as 10,000 feet in the air. The tail helps the eagle to glide and maneuver around with ease. Habitat The habitat of an animal is where it lives. The bald eagle is mainly found in North America. It can also be found in northern Mexico. Bald eagles were once spotted in Ireland. There are an estimated 100,000 bald eagles on earth. Half of the eagles live in the state of Alaska. Bald eagles like to hang around the bayous of Louisiana, the Sonoran desert, and the eastern forests of Quebec and New England. Almost all good eagle habitats have a least one tall tree. They generally avoid habitats where they are disturbed by humans. Different kinds of trees are selected for nests, but the tree selected is almost always taller than the surrounding, giving the eagle a good lookout and chance to fly over the
