Alzheimer’s disease Alzheimer’s disease is the progressive deterioration occurring in middle or old age as a result of generalized degeneration of the brain. In other words, it is a disease which results in the loss of one’s mental ability due to continuous deterioration of the brain and old age. Within a family who’s loved one is a victim of this widespread disease, it does not just effect the one diagnosed, it effects the family as well- there are a variety of impacts that it may have on the family. These effects can be that of an emotional, financial, or a sociological impact.
