The German public saw Hitler as god-like with his vast power and glorifying the German race as being the “master race.” When he finally reversed the power of the Treaty of Versailles and rebuilt Germany’s armed forces, the German nation basically did as he told them to do. This was seen as one of his major successes. Another would be numerous military successes. He united Germany after the humiliation of World War I and extended the Germen territory into Eastern Europe. This would be his military successes.
'Popular Support For Hitler Was the Most Important Reason Why he Became Chancellor In January 1993' How Far do You Agree With This Statement? Hitler became Chancellor in January 1933, I believe that it the statement is partially true, Hitler was a clever man and with the aid of Joseph Goebbels he released many campaigns and propaganda throughout Germany spreading the Nazi's message and image getting people to vote for them. Not only that but with the Nazi's policies which some of them were aimed at particular groups like the nationalists or old age citizens, this too gained support. However it wasn't just popular support which got Hitler into power, the two previous chancellors in the Reichstag who were voted off helped as Hindenburg had no option but to make Hitler into the new Chancellor. My first point is how Goebbels used propaganda to aid Hitler.
Describe the rise to prominence of the personality you have studied Albert Speer’s rise to prominence was compounded by numerous significant events including his early work for the Nazi Party, followed by his appointment of Reich Architect and his further architectural works under this title such as the Paris Fair and German Project. Speer then reached his prominence of power when he was appointed Armaments Minister. Speer’s rise to prominence initially began with his joining of the Nazi Party in 1931. From this moment Speer’s recognition within the Nazi Party only amplified, all beginning with his first job as the Party’s driver. Through this job Speer met Dr Goebbels, who organised Speer’s first architect job; the renovation of the Party’s headquarters in Berlin.
Another one of Speer’s outstanding contributions was becoming the principal planner of the German war economy and therefore producing thousands of front-line machines and heavy tanks. Speer built up around himself a very effective system to oversee the armaments industry. Speer dramatically increased the numbers of workers working in factories from 200- full time staff too over 10,000 of them. He assigned 40 key chairmen who reported personally to Speer, thus enabling him to intervene immediately if required. Speer has been described as having a ruthless approach to work ethics amongst the Reich in ensuring strict discipline and work patterns.
Peacetime industry began to give way to wartime endeavors. Factories built parts and shipped them to other factories to assemble into the final products. The country needed ammunition, tanks, aircraft, ships, bombs, protective gear, and many other wartime necessities. American industrialists invested in the development of new technologies that allowed the production in greater quantities and at a quicker pace. These endeavors provided a huge boost to the economy of the United States, advanced industrial technology, and provided more work opportunities for Americans.
Also there was a growth in Nationalist interest and citizens started to become proud of German culture and language which encouraged them to unite as one. The final reason why the states united was because Prussia which was the leading German state had 3 successful wars against Demark, Austria and France this showed together they were a formidable military power which also contributed to why the states united. The second Reich was a autocratic government this means that the it was solely ruled by one person who is known as the Kaiser who at this time was Wilhelm II he had the ruling of all government decisions, under him were the Reichstag which were the countries parliament, the Reichsrat who represented the 25 states and could approve laws and The chancellor who was in charge of the government and was appointed personally by the Kaiser. All of these could be undermined by the Kaiser this is an Autocracy. The strengths of the second Reich were that it had made Germany one of the economic super powers of Europe, as by 1913 the population had grown by 50% and urbanisation started to occur meaning people started moving to the cities and industry began to boom.
There are several reasons as to why Lloyd George won the general election in 1918 such as his personal popularity, the success of the wartime coalition government in winning the war, the increased number of votes from the public and David Lloyd Georges decisions and promises made during the election campaign. Lloyd Georges personal popularity was mainly based on his achievements of leading the country successfully through the Great War after the collapse of Asquith's government. Although Lloyd George was a liberal himself, he became head of the coalition government, mainly of unionists or conservatives with Liberals and Labours support. He was increasingly seen as having the necessary energy to drive and achieve victory becoming the 'man who won the war'. The 1918 election subsequently became known as the coupon election in reference to the signed letter of endorsement that selected coalition candidates received from Lloyd George and the conservative leader Andrew Bonar Law.
World War II was a time of technological advancement. The need for increased transportation, ease of mobility, and innovative attacks on enemies led to the development of many new and revolutionary technologies. These new innovative advancements, specifically weapons, greatly influenced the way war was fought and ultimately allowed for the end of the war. Initially, combat in WWII was fought with armed men on horses, trenches, and battleships from World War I. WWII lasted from 1939-1945 and within that time frame, revolutionary weapons such as jets, ballistic missiles, and atomic weapons were created to ease combat demands. Air military strength became one of the most important elements of the war.
The German people are most fascinating. In the 20th Century, in my opinion, they were the people who had made the most impact in the world today. They developed the most innovative technology during their wars with the world, and also were most receptive to the many periods of change that swept over the rapidly changing country. They managed to fight World War 1 and nearly defeated the Western Allies before the entry of the United States of America. After being stripped of the right to build artillery guns according to the Treaty of Versailles, they began to develop missiles, like the V1 and V2, so as to replace the need for long-range combat support.
J. Robert Oppenheimer helped to reshape our world with his many scientific achievements including his work on the Manhattan project along with his contributions to education. His work as leader of the Manhattan project helped to redefine warfare, and he is thought of as the founder of modern theoretical physics. Julius Robert Oppenheimer was born on April 22, 1904 in New York City (“J. Robert Oppenheimer” American History). His family was wealthy as his father, a German immigrant, was a successful textile importer, and his mother was a painter.
