The issue of access to resources affects the promotion and maintenance of world order to a significant extend. Non-renewable resources such as oil and natural gas have become a threat on Earth as the world has a limited amount of non-renewable resources which every country needs in order to increase its productivity, economy and industrial. Furthermore, global warming is likely to further increase the amount for finite resources due to the potential for resources to be lost due to environmental degradation. In the Pacific region, it is the demand for natural gas, oil and fisheries that is leading to a potential break down for world order. Under the law of sea (1982) UN convention, processing a island can enable a country to extend its Exclusive Economic Zone by 200 mile radius. This is leading Japan and China to engage its risky military and diplomatic behaviour over the San Senkaku/ Diao Yu Islands where there are substantial natural gas and fishing reserves. This conflict over natural resources is s serious threat to the balance of power in the Pacific and has a potential to upset world order, as it may embroil the United States and China in war. In the media article "Obama says U.S. will defend Japan's Senkakus" written by Bill Gertz from the Washington Beacon, U.S has strongly stated that "a signal to friend and foe alike in Asia that the alliance is psychologically prepared for even new regional pressures - particularly from China." Access to resources has created a huge impact on the promotion and maintenance of world order, hence countries have to stay calm and conscience to maintain world peace as their first priority then fighting for their rights to obtain the inherent natural resources after all we are all
