After reading A Noiseless Flash from Hiroshima by John Hersey, I initially felt really bad for the people that went trough such a devastating event. I imagined myself being in that situation, especially for a long period of time. And to be honest, I don’t think I’d be able to live a life like that. Live in constant fear everyday? No. Afterwards I pictured myself waking up full of sadness, wondering if tomorrow might never come. Is my life going to end like this? I question so many things in my everyday life. Is there going to be a future for me? Should I bother planning for the day? Am I ever going to get married? Or have kids? Just recently, I recognized that I had so much to be thankful for. The Bombing of Hiroshima reminded me of September 11th in New York City . Like Hiroshima , thousands died and millions of innocent lives were touched by the horrific incident, even in the most indirect ways. The terrorist attacks on Sept. 11th, was unexpected to billions of people world wide, especially the Americans. No body was prepared, nor warned about such a thing, it came as a surprise. In my opinion, many people learned from this terrible destruction. Any day, anytime, anywhere, something could happen that will change one’s life forever, both positively and negatively. We didn’t think it was possible to believe before but, we do live in a world where instant destruction is possible. Before those attacks, I thought we lived in a perfect world where nothing bad like that could ever happen in my time, I was so naïve, so young and didn’t know any better. And, in our case, it changed the way we think of people, cultures, and societies in a negative way. In one way people started attacking the middle eastern/Muslim descent. All Muslims after that day, were pretty much looked at as terrorists, and it sucked because being a Muslim myself people started looking at me differently
