Running head: FIVE KEY DRIVERS OF SUPPLY CHAIN COMPLIANCE 1 Five Key Drivers of Supply Chain Compliance FIVE KEY DRIVERS OF SUPPLY CHAIN COMPLIANCE 2 Abstract The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 26000 outlines the requirements of social responsibility for any organization that is willing to adapt. Organizations’ social responsibility is very important for their survival since stakeholders, consumers and investors around the world are becoming aware of the benefits it would have to well-being of society and environment as a whole. The seven core subjects covered in this standard are: organization governance, human rights, labor practices, the environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues and community involvement and development. The five key drivers of supply chain compliance which could be extracted from the ISO core subjects are: compliance with labor law, compliance with a safe work place, compliance with environmental protection, compliance with quality of products or services and compliance with ethics in running an organization. Overall, the intention of ISO 26000 is to help organization to contribute to sustainable development. Supply chain compliance to these seven core subjects will not go unnoticed by stakeholders and society. Organizations that do not take part in social responsibility nor comply with any of the guidelines in the standard will not survive in the long run.
