Mitt Romney were both nominated to be the presidential candidate of their respected parties because they were the best fit and had the best goals for the United States. Their acceptance speeches each showed why they were the best men for the job. However, President Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s speeches had some striking similarities to go along with the obvious differences between them. For instance, in both of their speeches Obama and Romney emphasized that the people are what make America. Obama stated, “The people make it possible” and “people give me hope” while Romney also said that the “strength of America is based on its communities and people”.
By linking the aspects to the history of our founding fathers the speech was structured and strong. President Obama uses the theme of history and the method of pathos to create patriotism in his speech. President Obama creates a patriotic tone in the speech by mentioning all the “ups and downs” our country faced such as when he says “Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.” Leaving the audience with a sense of pride because this
Assess the factors that determined the outcome of the 2008 Presidential election. (45) The 2008 Presidential election will go down in history which was watched by the whole world. For the Democratic Party, the choice was a black candidate called Barack Obama who had a magnificent aura and style about him, and for the Republican party, a no nonsense war hero in the form of John McCain. The outcome resulted in Barack Obama being inaugurated as the 44th President and the first Black American to become President with 52.9% of the vote whom many citizens hailed as the man who would help get them out of the recession. There were many factors throughout the election which had an impact which I will explain below.
Many social and economic barriers are a part of why many Americans are not receiving proper healthcare. (Lavizzo-Mourey, R, (2009). We can reduce this by Coordinating care through family doctors and Use insurance to manage chronic diseases (Arnst, C. (2009). Example, if more people seek preventive care and are able to speak to their doctor longer than the 10 minutes most providers are with the patient more problems can be addressed and preventive standards can be set in place. This can save the nation an estimated $25 to $50 billion a year for not repeating visits for duplicate complaints or follow up cost.
The ridiculous portion of our budget that is spent on defense could be much better spent on social welfare, health, and education. The United States usually leads the world in military funding. In 2012, the United States spent approximately $806 billion on our military budget, which covers about 27% of the country’s federal funds budget. We don’t need such a massive, sprawling military policing the entire world to be safe. Pouring even 5% of the money we spend on defense into education and health care would give this country some lasting benefits that would help us achieve a brighter future.
Why we should have Universal Health Care Did you know that 45,000 Americans die each year because they can’t pay for medical help. Universal health care is the remedy to the problem we face. A universal health care system extends care to anyone regardless of social status or bank account. Secondly it will reduce overall medical costs. Thirdly there would be a greater demand for doctors creating more jobs.
US Presidents Paper – Obama Will Be Re-Elected Written by: Connor Quinn November 6th, 2012 Prof. Stewart HIST 2131A Obama Will Be Re-Elected The 2012 American presidential election represents a pivotal time for the citizens of the United States, and the global community. The U.S. president leads the mightiest of the Western Nations, and is unequivocally one of the most recognizable and influential individuals in the world. In an era plagued with increasing foreign tension, economic woes, social struggles, and environmental disasters, the president is a figure all Americans look to for reassurance and guidance. In general, then, the president is the leader the American public needs and wants to believe in. Their struggle for reassurance
Now you are left with a financial burden of a major illness and we all know that it can be very devastating. I believe that health care should not only be offered but it should be made affordable for everyone. The U.S should immediately adopt the universal healthcare because it will benefit us all and make life easier for everyone. As of today health care has become a controversial topic. After decades of failed attempts by democratic presidents; president Obama finally signed the health care reform in March 2010.
Around 50,000 people per year die from secondhand smoke. If the production and sale of cigarettes alone were banned, then hundreds of thousands of lives would be prolonged and saved; approximately 450,000 lives per year (Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids). Smoking is the number one cause of death due to lung cancer, emphysema, and other life-threatening diseases (ALA). If the cause of disease and cancer was completely eliminated from the United States, then the problem would be solved. If tobacco was eliminated people’s outer appearances would also improve.
It isn’t just who’s running for president or should we pass a law but most importantly who can vote to pass these laws. In history women have been the underdog. Often treated unfairly because they are seen as inferior In conclusion to that they have been given less rights throughout history such as the right to vote. Along with the chance to provide for their families, by having a job during the end of World War II women also finally got the right to vote. Harvard professor, Emma Lapsansky-Wener, stated that the right for women to vote would give citizens a stronger faith in the government, that only then they will be ensured protection throughout their lives.
