Critical thinking is a systematic way to enhance and form an individual’s thinking process to answer questions. The importance’s of critical thinking and scientific method in an earth class and everyday life helps us to find an adequate and sufficient result to everyday problems and also this is used in scientific method. The scientific method is a process that demands making observations, inductive or deductive reasoning, recording data, and analyzing data to come up with an hypothesis in a particular way that can be replicated by other scientists. In the scientific method making observations “scientists use their observations as an aid predicting future events in the earth system and in some cases the universe”( McConnell, Steer, Knight, Owens, 2010 p 10). The scientific method uses inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning to try to create helpful and dependable models of nature and natural phenomena. In other words scientists use their abilities to obtain information about the world visually or using scientific equipment. This information is written down by the scientist as they observe, her, and feel (McConnell, et al., 2010). We use observations and reasoning in our culture and physical environment. We take these observations and reasoning’s to form ideas, these ideas are known as hypothesis of facts or these ideas are known as hypothesis, “ A hypothesis is a testable explanation of facts or observations” (McConnell, et al., 2010). Example: All diet pills are not a good source for losing weight, changing an individual’s lifestyle with good eating habits, activity and exercise works best. I might form a hypothesis that all diet pills do not work. With experience, I test for either a positive or negative interaction.
