GROUPS I was involved in a group that was part of the Allen Houston Foundation that consisted of young entrepreneurs beginning businesses. The group provided motivation, encouragement, additional avenues and suggestions during times of ambiguity. With the continued support of this group during the most difficult stage of a business which is startup, I developed an unrelenting dedication to the projects and goals that I set for myself. In times of adversity I am now more apt to push through to achieve my goals than to give in to defeat. When I was young I was in a sports group that played some different type of sport year round. Being a part of that group taught me how to work well as a team player even when I didn’t agree with everyone on the team. It also kept me in great shape and out of trouble that I could have possibly gotten into if my time wasn’t occupied. My ability to work on a team and as an individual was groomed from this group. Being involved in an African American Heritage team taught me patience while learning. It also helped me realize what method of learning and remembering worked best for me. That team boosted my self-confidence because I did very well during the Black Heritage Bowl and my team won. I learned that a lot of hard work does pay off even when it seems impossible. LIFE EXPERIENCES As I have experienced many things in my life, I am now more prepared to go through my degree program because of my personal desire to be successful. I have the full support of my immediate family that matters most to me. Although I am just beginning on my journey to a degree with Ashford University, the staff has been very helpful and supportive in helping find the right program and get started on the right track. My previous school experience in the traditional setting, as well as, online has prepared me to continue my higher learning education
