Shannon Bodensieck Professor Walsh April 12, 2012 Bullying In the video about bullying, I agree with what was said. Most kids bully without even knowing what they are doing. In the video all of the kids were asked to explain bullying as what they believe it is, the explanations from the kids ranged from saying it is an older kid stealing their lunch money to as far as racism. Honestly I believe that whether a child will become a bully as they grow up depends on how they are raised by their parents and what goes on in their home life. When the kids were asked if they have ever bullied someone else, most of the answers that were given were of course "No".
Example: child X (being the bully) jokes with child V (the victim) and child V is offended by X’s joke. Such type of bullying affects both the victim and the “bully” – when this happens for more than once child V will start to feel less confident. However, as a result of a repetitive behaviour from the child X the “bully” will be excluded by the rest of the class or group. Effects As already mentioned previously, the effects of bullying does not only affect the bullied person, but also the bully him/herself. However another bracket of people who are affected by the action of bullying are the people witnessing the actual bullying.
The younger generation People in Fort William are always saying 'Och the younger generation are chaos creating hooligans that cause distress and trouble in the community. These people that are supposedly involved in crime are somewhat of a bad stereotype for young people. Such problems are caused by many factors but the most concerning to me is that young people have very few things to do. All because the government spends very little on facilities. There is also too much bad press on young people as a result.
Sandusky and some of his fellow employees’ behavior displayed extreme bad behaviors disregarding the law, work policy, and social status. Tim Curly, Gary Schultz, Joe Paterno, Graham Spanier (University president), Mike McQueary, Jim Calhoun(janitor), Ray Gricar(county district attorney) and Wendell Courtney(former general counsel) are the key individuals who first knew of Jerry Sandusky unethical behavior with the underage boys that
This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
Bullying can now lead to criminal cases and lawsuits. By the schools letting bullying continue it teaches students that it's ok. This creates a fearful environment instead of a learning one. Students feel "let me bully so I don't get bullied". Bullying victims can have a lot of stress added on and it can lead to retaliation such as school shootings as well as suicide.
Breakfast is served… In the movie “The Breakfast Club”, I think that John Bender and Andrew Clark are most like me. I think that Allison Reynolds is not like me at all. John Bender kind of matches my personality because he is rebellious and I sort of am as well. He also is very annoying and a lot of people tell me I am annoying too. John Bender likes to make trouble and havoc in the school when he is in detention and somedays I just try to make trouble for no reason.
One possible outcome is Fred’s children, whenever he chooses to have them, will be raised in this new found belief and carry on the tradition of hate, or the exact opposite will happen with his offspring. His children could learn the truth about other races and religions and grow to have the same distaste toward their father that Fred has for the “other” group of people. There is always the outcome of Fred hurting or killing the group of people in mention which will get him jail time or worse. Most people who have such a strong belief toward people who are different, tend to not be happy with just showing their hate by using words, by they rather physically show their discord by burning, destroying, demonstrating, beating, and killing what they hate. This in turn poses another set of consequences.
Class discussion could be based on a consideration of the characters and the different ways they deal with bullying. The bullying is done for no understandable reason, as the author shows. What would be other ways to combat bullying? • Teamwork is demonstrated in the novel in the boys’ efforts to present a united front for their debating team. Perhaps a formal debate with four speakers against and four speakers for the affirmative could be arranged to discuss such questions as: ‘That unchecked bullying in schools leads to world conflict’; ‘That intelligence always overcomes brute force.’ • Students could emulate Prue Leseur’s peg people and create their own versions of world leaders, or famous actors or musicians, and present them in class, describing why they chose the person, and their
Bullying has always existed, but no one has directly addressed the issue. Years ago, society defines a bully as “that kid who stole lunch money” or a “playground bully”, but those definitions are now seen as primitive. The modern-day bully is the individual who sends cruel messages to lower another’s self-esteem, intentionally or not, or the individual who spreads mean rumors about another. As these instances pop up all over the place, children take notice. Because of this, they think that they are bullied, because they know about it.
