They followed nearly 280patients over 8 weeks and found that BZs were more effective than placebos given to some of the participants. Another strength is the ease of use of the biological methods This means that little time and effort is required for the usage of the drugs whereas psychological methods can take a much longer period of time such as stress inoculation therapy. However there are some limitations that come with the biological methods of managing stress such as
The superior recall of items at the start of the list is called the primary effect, whilst the superior recall of the items at the end of the list is called the recency effect. This is good evidence for the multi-store model of memory because it shows the difference between the STM and the LTM. Rundus & Atkinson (1970) Rundus and Atkinson asked participants to rehearse out loud the list they were given (similar to Murdock's experiment). Tape recordings showed that words from the beginning of the list were more likely to be rehearsed than later ones. Because of the limited capacity of the STM, words from the middle of the list are thought to be lost completely or unavailable for recall.
The experiment produces the primary effect, where many words are recalled from the beginning of the list, and the recency effect, where many words are also recalled from the end of the list, but not so many from the middle. This study also shows that there are separate short term and long term memory stores since the primary effect occurs because the words at the beginning of the list have been rehearsed, and so are transferred into the long term memory store. However, whilst this is going on, less attention is paid to the middle words and they tend to be lost unless they have some special significance to the individual. The words at the end of the list are well recalled because they are still fresh in the memory system unless there is a distractor task which causes this information to be lost through interference, displacement, or decay. This evidence can be seen as reliable since it was scientific, conducted in a laboratory, and produced quantative data that makes it easy to summarise and compare with other data.
They were asked to recall words in the correct order given in the sentence. The more sense the sentence made (in grammar) the easier it was to recall. It implied that semantic meaning and grammatical structure is used to help increase amount of information stored in short term memory by combining items to create larger chunks. Participants were able to recall 7 pieces of information. The research suggests that capacity of short term memory could only be enlarged by grouping items together known as chunking.
Abstract: The aim of this investigation was to test long-term memory using two conditions: mental repetition and note-taking. It was hypothesised that the participants who were able to take notes will remember more of the critical words than the participants who used mental repetition. There were 22 year 11 students used, 3 male, 19 female, all relatively the same age group (15-16 years). 50 words were read out to two groups, one group able to take notes, and the other not able to. The participants were then quizzed to see how many critical words (words starting with s) they could remember.
He found the average span for the digits was 9.3 items, while it was 7.3 for letters. Jacobs suggested it was easier to recall digits because it may be because there are only 9 digits whereas there are 26 letters. Miller wrote a memorable article called the magic number seven plus or minus two. He reviewed psychological research and concluded that the span of immediate memory is 7; people can cope reasonably well with counting seven dots flashed onto a screen but not many more than this. Miller also found that people can recall 5 words as well as they can recall 5 letters- we chunk things together and can remember more.

Because their minds are not fully matured and there action could have contribute to how they were brought up. I believe they need extensive help and shouldn’t be thrown away for the rest of their life. Question 3 There are two basic strategies to reducing prison overcrowding. The first is reduce the number o people going into prison in the first place. This means diverting less serious offenders to alternatives to prison.
Analyzing Author Style Using Students will combine three sets of kernel sentences based on the first paragraph of Britt's writing. They will then Sentence Combining: compare their sentences to Britt's. The class will discuss what sentence combining strategy or strategies they used and observe how Britt varies her sentences. Cause and Effect Writing: Students examine the causes and effects presented in a brochure called "Ozone: The Good and the Bad." They
In the listening assessment I can see how well students are pronouncing words in terms of breaking down the word using syllables. When the student repeats the words that he or she heard from the audiotape, I will be able to see how well they are coming along in listening and repeating, breaking down words to pronounce them correctly and trying to spell the words based off of how they sound. In the flash card assessment, I can see how well the students are coming familiar with the short “a” and the long “a” sound. Students will understand how words are spoken and spelled by knowing the long and short vowel sounds. I can monitor this by changing the words and the vowels at any given time.
