By 1350 there were some quite serious public health problems in towns, where the lack of fresh water and drainage was a problem which caused the water to be contaminated by other sources and was not healthy to drink. The government were not willing to donate funds to fixing this problem because they did not think it was their job to improve public health, but sometimes they passed laws requiring people to keep the streets clean especially in times when disease was common however these laws were difficult to enforce. Therefore, the Romans’ progress was not maintained. Meanwhile, animal excrement was common in the street and butchers slaughtered their animals and threw the remains on the streets which lead to disease and germs causing people to get sick. All this suggests that during the middle ages there was no progress in public health and that the standard of public health had gone backwards especially in the towns and cities.
Companies have deposited their waste in the lake, which has caused the lake to be shut down because humans are getting sick and even dying from the polluted waters. Viruses, pathogens, chemicals and toxins are all part of this pollution, which affects recreation, jobs, and habitats of animals. Fishermen have not spent money fishing for sport due to the drastic reduction of the salmon population at Lake Huron. Recreational hours at the lake have also seen a drastic decrease. This devastation affects a majority of the U.S. being one of our largest sources of fresh water, and will only continue to deplete, as companies carelessly dump their waste into the lake.
As the reliable water sources shrank and they were forced to drink the contaminated water. This may have also spread diseases throughout the Colony. The results being more deaths, because of the water sources being contaminated by filth from the colonists. [Doc.B] Shows that there was a large time of drought from 1606-1612.This likely affected the growth of crops. The result was deaths most likely caused by lack of food.
Question 1. (a) The article states, that every so often the pollution level in the Nile rises, Halting drinking water stations in many Egyptian cities. This has led to many protests over the government being to slow to resolve the problem. The cause of the rising pollution has been put down to several factors including a lower than usual level in the river ,fish farms and direct pollution into the rosetta branch of the river. They can no longer use extra water from the high dam to wash away pollution, as this would leave a water shortage during the summer months.
The main water supply of the Central Valley would cease to exist, thus leaving its inhabitants stranded and longing for a solution. Hence, if the Delta were to be eliminated through erosion or earthquakes, the amount of available water would diminish for most of California. For example, if we encountered a catastrophic earthquake, it could break down levee walls and within hours bring in salt water from the San Francisco bay. The salt level in the water ways would be detrimental to not only the drinking water but, to the wildlife and its ecosystem as well. Furthermore, it would also have a heavy influence on the amount and quality of farming.
The poisons will kill fish and the reef in which the fish live because there is no precise way to deliver it. The fishermen will dump the poison on the water in a likely spot and catch what floats up. The problem with poison is that it does not choose what it kills, so it kills reefs and poisons the area for new generations, then the fishermen go on to another area to repeat the destruction. Red is the endangered areas In image 2, the most endangered reefs are in areas that are considered “Third World”, where populations have limited access to education.
The first couple of years were not easy for the settlers. The question is Why did so many colonist die? To start off with, one of the problems they faced was environmental problems. Many of Jamestown’s colonist died because of brackish water which was some salty water due to the mixture of fresh and salt water, because of the tides that would happen twice daily. Also, they would dump their human waste into the water and make it even more contaminated so when the people of Jamestown would drink or use the water it would make them ill and even to the point that they died.

The change in climate and adverse weather conditions led to less agricultural productivity. The malnutrition led to the lack of antibodies people had in their immune system, therefore may have caused the Europeans to die more quickly. Poor sanitation was a major factor in the cities that led up to the contagious symptoms of the plague. The towns had no running water. Without running water, people didn’t bathe or wash their clothes.
The problem with this is that cargo ships travel on these lakes. Because the water levels are low, the cargo ships have to take smaller packages and make more trips, leaving the ports crowded and unorganized. This costs
