Prior to seeing the nurse practitioner, he fills out a history form which elicits a family history and review of systems. His father died of a heart attack at age 72. She earned degrees in chemical engineering and Afro-American studies in 1977. She was the first female leader of the Black Student Union there. She then enrolled at Cornell University’s Medical College in New York City. Her interest in seeing the world and helping other people led her to volunteer during summer school as a medical worker at a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand. A grant program also allowed her to conduct health studies in the east African country of Kenya, in 1979.
She is now once again fit and feels good about herself. She has joined a gym and attends the gym 2-3 times a week, she participates in several walk a thons every year, and she has taken up salsa dancing. She says that although she loved sports before, her current leisure activities are very rewarding to her. She does say that it is much harder now to lose those extra pounds whereas before it would be very
As part of an undergraduate project, a student was attempting to construct a restriction map for the plasmid pUC23 using the restriction enzymes EcoRI and BamHI. After carrying out both single and double enzyme digest reactions and electrophoresing each reaction mix through an aragose gel, the picture below is obtained, showing the number of DNA fragments produced in each reaction, along with the sizes of each fragment. From this information, construct a restriction map of the pUC23 for enzymes EcoRI and BamHI. Digest Performed: Sizes of Fragments Obtained:
We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The biggest barrier of entry that I can see with this event would be the fact that there are a few well known named events that deal with the cause for cancer, and to be able to promote to our audience that this one is beneficial as well. Possibly being able to tell the history of the YMCA we could attract the “COMMUNITY” as well as local diocese in the area.
Nursing school opened new horizons for my community involvement. Previous year I volunteered for Red Cross Blood Drive and obtained valuable experience in helping others with blood donations. This year I decided to volunteer at Open Door Health Clinic, Muncie, Indiana. I thought being almost graduate nursing student would expand my current experience level at other healthcare setting. Open Door is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center which provides comprehensive primary, urgent, and preventative healthcare to individuals and families through East Central Indiana regardless of their health insurance status, such as Medicare or Medicaid, disability claims, or other government-sponsored programs.

The Joys of Adulthood & Grandchildren The person I decided to interview was one of my bosses, Alan Blum, at my current job who is at the latter ages in the middle adulthood category. The reason I chose to interview Alan is because I believe him to be a well rounded person and he has held a multitude of different jobs in the human services field. When he was 7 years old his father passes away and that was the biggest influence that impacted him to choose the human services field as his career path. His father’s passing impacted him so strongly that he had to be under psychiatric care for 3 years. Alan was experiencing a period of grief, for his father’s passing, which is defined as “an individual’s emotional response to the death of another” (Strassen Berger, 2008, p. Ep-18).
Ronda’s Newsletter Mom and Dad The most passionate thing in my life is family, especially my parents. They have been married for 52 years and they continue to show me and my brothers what real love and dedication is. My mom had a brain aneurysm that left her paralyzed on the left side and minimal brain issues. My dad is her sole care giver. I think they are more in love with each other today than when they first married.
