Reflection: RTL In English class we were assigned to write a Response to Literature essay. A response to literature examines the theme, plot, characters, or other aspects of a chapter, story, book, or poem. The typical response to literature essay is 5 paragraphs long. The first paragraph is the intro to the essay. The essay must start with a clear thesis which announces what will be the subject of the following critique. The body paragraphs must include a topic sentence(Should mention message or theme), transition(For example: additionally, furthermore, next, first, in comparison, etc), setup(Introducing your quote. What happens in the story right before this?), quote(Evidence from the text), and analysis(Tell us how your quote proves your thesis). Your essay should end with a conclusion which includes a brief summary of paper. You must also restate your thesis statement and bring a closure to your ideas. In my essay, many things were well done. I had three very good pieces of evidence and a very good conclusion. The reason why I had three very good pieces of evidence was because they all showed that Stacy believed that she was being treated unfairly. My conclusion had a brief short summary of my paper and I restated my thesis statement. Although there are many things I did well, there are many things I could work on. I did not have a clear thesis so my body paragraphs lack focus. Having a clear thesis would help me show that I understood the story better. If I improved all of these things, my essay would be very well
