Maddie Kritzman Specific Goal: To persuade my audience a tribute should be shared regarding Millersburg Farmer’s Day. I. INTRODUCTION A. Ever thought you came from a small town and that everything that happens has a meaning to you? B. I have been going to Farmer’s Day since I was a little girl and when they stopped doing it I was real sad, but then they got people to bring it back and start it up again. C. Its relevant to show my audience where I come from and how it’s special to me. D. Today I’m going to tell you what Farmer’s Day is, what happens there, and why it is special to me. E. My family is really involved in it. My aunt was the coordinator for it, my uncle was the guy everyone looks for when something was going wrong, and my grandma helped out with announcing the parade. C. The name has changed from Millersburg Farmer’s Day to Friends of the Park and then back to Farmer’s Day. D. It is mostly a weekend to support our local farmers and also to have a fun time with our friends, family, and town. III. Next I will talk about what happens on Farmer’s Day weekend. A. It usually starts on a Friday afternoon then ends on Sunday with a worship service that the whole town is invited to. B. Friday nothing really happens. Saturday there is a parade that starts about 10:00 in the morning and it’s followed by a talent show at Cook Station Park, which is where it is all located at. C. There are usually some games to play, a dunk tank, talent shows, giveaways, and the famous slow pitch softball, which we call Amish softball. There is a tournament all weekend. D. Usually on Saturday after the tournament is over, we have fireworks set off while the whole park is filled with people. IV. Then I will talk about why it’s special to me. A.
