Hey, I'm sure you are wondering what this letter is all about. The truth of the matter is I need your help. I'm a Disney girl at heart I've been in love with it pretty much since the day I was born. On top of this my new found love is Colorguard. I invest hundreds of hours a year into it, and every two years I get the opportunity to take a trip with my highschool marching band to somewhere special.

Jeremy Benguma Professor Amir Sharifi ESL 53C April 18, 2014 Bowers Museum During my weekend, on Saturday March 8th, 2014, I spent the whole day, with my aunt, who volunteered as a tour guide, at the Bowers Museum. She helps out by answering questions, and explaining about cultural artifacts, to young high school students. So that is when I got the idea, to do up a profile about the Bowers Museum. The Bowers Museum is located in Santa Ana, Orange County, California. The museum was named after Charles Bowers, a late 1800s Orange County land developer, who donated the land on which it stands to the City of Santa Ana.
Classmates On Saturday, November 8, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., we attended a Remembrance Day ceremony that was held in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Navy. There were various activities that included an HMCS Donnacona guard parade, music and speeches, some of them delivered by veterans. Handmade poppies were offered to the first participants. They are a faithful reproduction of one the first commemorative poppies to appear in the first half of the 20th century. The original was held for display at the entrance
The Death of Tessie Hutchinson A tradition is something that’s been handed down from generation to generation. We often go along with them without questioning the meaning or perhaps even changing them for our own personal beliefs. Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” leaves the reader feeling uncomfortably disturbed. It is a story about society traditions, and the way we follow them just because generations before us have followed them. The villagers believe that to keep the rain god happy and have a good harvest they must continue the tradition.

The lottery is a major traditional event that is held every year in the town square. The lottery is when one member of the town is chosen to be stoned by all the friends and family members of the town as an offering to have a fruitful crop growing that season. Shirley Jackson manages to portray a steady tone throughout her short story. This tone indicates a type of friendly atmosphere in the village welcoming the lottery as a festive event like if they were celebrating a party, or a square dance. In the lottery Shirley Jackson mentions at the beginning when the people are gathering in the town square how the women are greeting each other and gossiping.
Do you celebrate holidays? If so, what are they? Ricky celebrates “Dia de Los Muerta”, which means Day of the Dead. It’s a two-day event celebrated on the days after Halloween. It is a day for family to gather and remember all the loved ones that have passed away.
In the fall of 1960 I attended and wanted to become a doctor. I managed to do well in my school work while taken part in the pickets and sit-ins. While many were getting summer jobs, others were joining the Freedom Riders which the plan was to ride through the Deep South. I became deeply affected by the bravery of the Freedom Riders, that after a year of participating in sit-ins I wanted to do more. I called my mother and told her that I was going to Jackson, Mississippi and she was thrilled but later gave in.
