Julie Divine Ms. Stacy Gaines, MA English ENGL 1313-E.202 12 August 2011 Working under pressure I instantly woke up to the sound of the tone out; it seemed as if we had just laid down. I jumped in my boots zipped them up and hurried out the door to save someone who had called 911 for chest pain in the middle of the night. In my fog I was thinking where 2300 South Jefferson is, but within seconds we were there. As we pulled up, I saw several of bystanders standing around. I told my EMT to grab the cot as I got the medical bag, monitor, and oxygen. We met at the back of the unit and began on our way to the house. As I entered the room I could hear the all to familiar sound of wet lungs struggling to breath. I turn on my flash light to get a better look and as the light struck his chest I saw blood everywhere and a large bullet wound to the right chest. All the sudden it was all too clear what is going on here. My partner said, looks like dispatch has got us again. Now my focus had to go from not only what I was going to do to save this man's life but to where was the shooter, and more importantly was it safe to be here.
