Faith and Reason has so many definitions. Faith believes in something that has not manifested yet. Faith is the only way you can move God. Faith without work is dead. Reason is a matter of faith. Reason in Christian faith can reveal the truth about the world and people. Faith and Reason can be described as the revelation of God. Reason can hold up faith but will never replace of it. Faith without reason is impossible but with knowledge faith can be possible and know God and what all he has done. With faith you have to use your mind. “Conversely, Christian faith needs reason in order to communicate its beliefs clearly, to arrange those beliefs in a more systematic form, to guard it from straying into fanaticism, or error, and to provide answering to reasonable objections to those beliefs” (Albl 1). To understand faith you have to be able to reason with your beliefs. “Rationalism and materialism understand faith as, at best, a harmless opinion about matters that are not real” (Albl 30). There are different opinions about faith and reason because of different cultures and traditions. “Reason is itself a matter of faith” (Albl 31). You cannot have one without the other. The role of reason in theology is guided by the spirit of knowledge through your experience of life and scripture. To rightly divide the word of truth though reason you have to study the word and apply practical applications.
