In the meatpacking industry, the biggest companies, "ConAgra, IBP, Excel, and National Beef- slaughter about 84 percent of the nation's cattle" (Schlosser).

Doc is a very brilliant and compassionate man. Though his being the only highly intelligent resident in Cannery Row is what sets him apart from others. Every single person respects and idolizes Doc, but at the same time, no one can fully comprehend him or give Doc complete company. Even while Hazel accompanies Doc on a trip to the tide pools, Doc is very much shown as being out casted from Hazel and everybody else. When Ian Belknap spoke Friday 5-6 period, it became one of my favorite presentations. He wasn't afraid to say anything , even giving an extremely offensive speech comparing Jesus Christ, and Santa Clause. But as much as I liked it, there was backlash. I heard many people saying that he took it too far and it probably offended a lot of people. I was arguing with people I didn't even know saying, that it wasn't the author's problem if people got offended.
In the debate in my personal opinion Obama did pretty good at defending himself, and knew how to use ethos, pathos and logos to sympathize more with the audience than Romney could.
