May 21- July 31 We started upstream on the Missouri River from the St Louis area camp. We had been preparing for the expedition since fall of last year. Me and nearly four dozen other men met up with Meriwether Lewis. We started making our way up the Missouri on a fiftyfive foot long keelboat and two smaller pirogues. As we traveled, I spent most of his time on the boat, charting the course of our journey and mapping it out the river and such, while Meriwether was often ashore studying the landforms, animals, and plants.

This was extremely frustrating and little embarrassing during my adolescent school years. I like to think now I'm a little special for this l odd gift for my name and I also like to tell the story at times. I grew up in a small quirky southern town called Many, Louisiana. Many is considered the biggest town in Sabine Parish and many people are familiar with this part of Louisiana due to beautiful Toledo Bend Lake. I have fond memories of Toledo Bend growing up.
The Great American Bandstand was another version of a live concert. My nana mentioned Frank Sinatra almost every other sentence because she loved his style, class, voice, and especially his looks. You owned all of his records, and would play them all day doing work around the house or preparing dinner for my papa. Unfortunately, your records and record player were lost many years ago. I mentioned that you could listen to Frank Sinatra anytime you wanted by using Pandora.
My current teacher, Mrs. Husberg, who actually lived and taught New York City for twenty years, still kept in touch with her former coworkers who were still teaching in the city when 9/11 took place. Because of Mrs. Husberg’s connections with these teachers out east, we were able to personally communicate via letters and emails to students our age. Not only was it interesting me to hear first hand a student’s perspective on the terror attacks, but it was also intriguing to learn about a New Yorker’s big city lifestyle compared to my own small town, rural life style. Throughout entire course of the school year, I kept in contact with my pen pal, Shelly. Shelly was a fifth grader also who was born and raised in Queens, New York.
