FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & BUILT ENVIRONMENT SUBJECT: EME3441 LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS 2 EXPERIMENT 1: BERNOULLI’S PRINCIPLE 1.0 ABSTRACT The objective of this experiment was to investigate the Bernoulli’s law. Calculation on hdynamic, Wmeasured and Wcalculated at each points of the venture tube will be done. The value of Wmeasured will be compared to the value of the Wcalculated. During the investigation, water is fed through a hose connector and the flow rate can be balanced at the flow regulator at the outlet of the test area.. The Venturi can be demonstrated as a means of flow measurement and the discharge coefficient can be determined. The experiment was run based on Bernoulli’s principle states that for an invincible flow, an increase in the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure or decrease in fluid potential energy. From this experiment, it is proven that when the speed of fluid increases, the pressure of the fluid decreases. Time taken to collect 10L water in the tank was determined and the flow rate, velocity , dynamic head, and total head were calculated using the reading we get from the experiment and data given. 2.0 OBJECTIVE To verify the Bernoulli equation using a Venturi meter. To measure the volumetric flow rates of water and both static and total pressure heads of for different flow rates. To find time taken to collect 10L of water, pressure difference at all manometer tube (static head), velocity, dynamic head and also the total pressure head. 3.0 THEORY/INTRODUCTION Daniel Bernoulli found that the pressure in a moving fluid (either fluid or gas) was less than the pressure in a stationary fluid. This principle is halfway in charge of the capacity of plane wings to lift the plane off the ground. At the point when a plane travels through the air, the state of the wing causes the air moving over the top
