ZEBRAS A Report By: Gianna Menacher Grade 4 Ms. Ylitalo ZEBRAS Introduction: I chose Zebras because they are different and they aren’t like any other animal. They are one of the only animals that are black and white, and they have stripes. Their stripes make them look really cool. Each zebras’ stripes are unique to them, and like no other. Habitat: Zebras live in the African safari.
Even though it is a popular animal doesn’t mean we all know the history of this exotic animal. The zebra is just like a human with its distinct stripes like how we have our distinct finger prints. Their main homeland is in Africa in the plains. They live in herds of small family groups all their lives. The males once they reach their highest maturity level will leave their original family group and will go find another one.
Giraffes will fight if they have to, but will usually just try to outrun a predator. They often get a good head start on predators because they have great eyesight and get a good view of the territory with their great height. As a matter of fact, other animals know how good giraffes are at seeing predators, so they hang around with giraffes and, if they see the giraffes start to get nervous or take off running, they take off too. What do they eat? Giraffes are herbivores, meaning they eat plants rather than meat.
It is now only found in the Southwestern part of Florida, including the Everglades and the Big Cypress Swamp. The typical habitats of these panthers are in forests and swamps, though panthers are able to adapt to many different types of habitats. The Florida Panther is very important to its habitat. The main roll of the panthers is to control the population of other animals with its hunting habits. They prevent animals (such as deer) from overpopulating the area, which can throw off other parts of the eco-system.
The main characteristics of this class include: fur/hair, mammary glands that evolved from sweat glands to produce milk for their young, a diaphragm to aid in respiration, they are endothermic, and bear live young. They belong to order Artiodactyla, which have the characteristics of even-toed hooves and are herbivorous (Carter 6). This information supports my argument in many ways. Giraffes are perfect for surviving in the African savannas because they have a camouflaged coat with patches of different sizes and colors to help them hide from predators, and have a fringed tail to help keep flies and other pests away. Their hind legs are shorter than their front legs, with tough hooves protecting each foot as well.
Like giving them bigger places to live, more and better food, also trying to disturb them as little as possible. Other of my experiences in vallarta’s zoo was watch a lion and a jaguar in a 3x2 meters cage with anything of their original habitat there, I think that that is so stressing because they cannot run, creep or make
They use both of these skills when it comes to catching their prey. These types of animals has the ability and popularity that should make it easy to thrive, but their are only around twelve thousand cheetah’s left in the world today. Cheetah’s are on the endangered species list. Conservationists believe that there are multiple reasons for this. One reason could be that the cheetah’s natural habitat is being destroyed.
China happens to contain a total of 60% of the habitats compared to those areas. Snow Leopards prefer broken terrain of cliffs, rocky outcrops and ravines. These types of habitats provide good cover and a clear view to find prey. Invasive Species It’s not competing with any other invasive species at this point in time because these animals can eat animals up to two times their own size. However the Snow Leopard does compete with hunters who illegally hunt them for the selling’s of their organs.
The purpose might be differ from species, as for cattle and sheep the castration is conducted to manage the unwanted mating while for hogs the meat quality is the main concern. Other than livestock, overpopulated wild animals of a particular species are also subjected to castration. Animals of certain species such as monkey and canine breeds easily, which contributes to environmental and societal issues. Uneven animal population contributes to the societal disruptions of balanced ecosystem environment such as mass migration of inferior species and food deprivation in the habitat. Besides, some species may be the hosts for endemic diseases might be fatal to another weaker species, leading to their
Is keeping animals in zoos cruel? Background: zoos, endangered animals, roaming around their habitat Disagree: safe, enough food, protected poachers, Agree: natural habitat, no socializing Nowadays, in zoos all over the world, zookeepers are trying to protect endangered animals, by keeping them in captivity. The question is by doing so, do they really protect the animals or are they harming them. Some people claim that keeping animals in the zoo is not cruel as animals can get plenty to eat without having to worry about scarcity of food. Some people argue that keeping animals in zoos is cruel as animals are kept away from their natural habitat and there would be no chance for animals to socialize with each other.
