Wrong Assumptions Although it may be inferred that the man on the stranded island will be rescued, things don’t always seem as they appear. The comic strip titled “The Far Side” by Gary Larson portrays a man stranded on an island. Suddenly, a UFO appears in the distance and approaches the island. The man thinks he is about to be rescued, but the UFO takes the palm trees that were on the island instead of the man. Once the UFO is gone, the man now has to make a new “roof” as the tree is now gone. The point of view of the comic strip is third person limited omniscient due to the fact that the comic strip is not seen through the man’s eyes, but from a distance. Larson has chosen this POV because it would advance the comic strip along by showing
