How Accurate is it to Call 1920’s USA ‘The Roaring Twenties’ The Roaring Twenties was an era of great economic growth in the USA. Just after WW1 had just ended, America was a time of fun, escapade, excitement and enthusiasm. New inventions were flooding into the country such as automobiles and refrigerators. Spending was to an all time high as people were buying the new fashion trends, going to see their favourite actors at the theatre or even to go see their favourite sporting heroes. People were enjoying life as these new changes gave the USA a major jump in its economy in this short period.
More than eighteen thousand civilian and military personnel died. Most of the city was destroyed as a result of the raids. Why were these raids so much more devastating than the raids on Hamburg, Cologne, and Berlin? The ideal weather conditions, construction and materials of buildings, lack of anti-aircraft artillery, and poor infrastructure combined to create ideal conditions for Allied Bomber Command to devastate over five square miles of Dresden. As a military target, Dresden was the only major city not bombed due to it’s location deep inside the heart of Saxony.

The mind of the nation was completely united for maybe the first time in our nation’s short history. We had never been so in sync with each other, the greater good of the nation was put first and this led to technological advances in order to beat the enemy at all cost and psychological propaganda to keep us close-knit.
Why are people in the human society not interacting as much as before? Whether it be just physically talking to somebody or maintaining family relationships with relatives. This decline in interaction is caused by technology. In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, acceleration of technology minimized the socialization among people leading to a society in which young adults were not exposed to the real world resulting in a depressed generation that could not face reality and live by themselves lacking enough understanding of how the world functions. In the twentieth century, there was a rapid growth of technology.
It’s about whether you enjoy what you are doing because you spend 60% of your entire life working. If I spent 60% of my entire life just working to pay the bills, I would be miserable by the time I’m retired because there wasn’t any satisfaction or fulfillment for me. I still don’t have any clue on what I want to do with my life but reading this article really changed my mind on a lot of things. In the article, Leider also asked two questions what I thought was very important. What do you want?
Initially, billions were wasted on war, bonds were a problem, and propaganda started to rise. Us spend about 33 billion on the making of the war. How did they get all that money? Immigration Change Over the Years Immigration is a serious and important part of history in the United States. First prior to the late nineteenth century the immigration policies were very easygoing. Most of the Europeans were taking in, only 2% of arrivals at Ellis Island were sent away, some were band for being criminals, mentally unstable, and communist. Most of that 2% were rejected for health reasons. Despite having to pick up their life and leave, the immigrants came in by millions to the United States in the late 19th century and 21st century to build better lives for their families economically, religiously, and educationally.
To a large extent Germany was very economically stable as Stresemann introduced a new currency and gained loans from the USA under the Dawes plan. The Dawes plan was produced in 1924 by Gustav Stresemann, it was a USA backed plan which helped to stabilise the economy greatly. The first part of the plan was the introduction of the new rentenmark which would now be worth 100 of the old mark. The plan also gave Germany 800 million marks in loans to aid their economy. The introduction of the rentenmark greatly improved Germany’s economical stability as it helped solve the inflation crisis.
The European economies were exhausted by the cost of waging a long war. In comparison, the USA grew rich during the war years. Its late arrival to the war, and the fact that its cities and industries were not bombed or destroyed during the conflict, meant that at the end of the war it was able to capitalise on the perilous state of European industry and dominate their markets. The First World War was very beneficial to America as during this time America’s food
Most people who major in theatre usually double major because making it in the theatre world is very tough but once you get in, you’re in for the rest of your life. So the question occurs why would someone major, nevertheless why would I major in theatre? The answer is simple, because this is my purpose and passion. Those of us to decide to do this don’t wake up and say “I am going to become a actor and major in theatre”, we were chosen. This may sound weird but everyone is chosen for what they do.
