Worshipping the mother earth “Life on the planet is born of woman” by Adrienne Rich. Recently a lot of research has been done on the finds of ancient goddess statues including the beautiful Venus of Willendorf and the Venus of Laussel and more over archaeologists believe the statue venus of willendorf was used as a fertility symibol or even a fertility amulet by a paleolithic woman. Her statue provides supporting evidence of her fertility which depicts a woman with wide hips sometimes aptly named 'child-bearing hips'. From ancient times blood has been known to symbolize fertility as in menstrual blood or the lifeblood. A stain of blood -red ochre has also been found on willendorf goddess statue thus giving stronger evidence to the fact that life on earth is born of women. Similarly, mythology has also pointed out that the most common way for the creation of the world and all that is in it is by giving birth to the earth, the heavens, the gods, and all life on earth including human beings. In the natural world, it is usually the female of the species who gives birth or lays eggs and usually she is called “a mother.” Whereas in the mythological world, she can be defined as the Mother Goddess, Great Mother, Mother Nature or, as in the Hebrew myth of human creation, Mother of all Living Beings in contrast to the Biblical Havah or Eve. In a similar way, the ancient Hindu goddess Shakti is called “The Womb of Everything” and the Aztecs of America tell of a first goddess who gave birth to the other gods, who in turn gave birth to humans. Moreover, when viewing the world as a whole it has mentioned many different goddesses,such as Mama Watta, the Mother of Waters, who gave birth to all the world’s waters.
