Moreover, this event makes some of the characters starting to think differently. Nandana is one of the main characters who can also be considered a hero. She initially lives an illusion when she refuses to accept that her parents died. As she refuses to talk to anybody, the child created her own imaginary world being unwilling to look at the reality: “Why couldn't he understand that if he kept quiet, if all of them kept quiet, her parents would hear her and come to take her home?” (47).

To begin, her husband, Ross feels as though he has married beneath himself, and he does not love her anymore. Their marriage was most likely caused by Jean getting pregnant with their son, which made Ross feel like he had to marry her out of force. In the story, Ross specifically tells their son, Kevin that he should try not to marry beneath himself because he will end up stuck in the same situation as him.
Since during the novella Curley’s wife is constantly bullied and segregated which drives her to having to flirt with the men since it is the only way she can get anyone to talk to her so she deserves to live a life free from loneliness and sorrow and to live her dream. George in one way gets what he deserves since that he is freed from constantly having to watch out for and look after Lennie so he can live his life how he wants with no distractions. However, he does lose his best friend and only companion which is grave since now he has no one to share his lifelong dream with. Lennie deserves a better a more full life where his dream of petting rabbits comes true and that he is forced to be valiant by George and occidentally kills Curley’s
She uses the son of Drew to get back at him (74). Clemencia is very dynamic. She forces herself to believe that she will never marry a man due to the way she and her mother are treated. Clemencia multitasks by having many jobs and still being able to pay the bills. She is strong willed and will do anything to be happy because she knows she deserves it.
The “Judges” Are Watching: Stifling the Woman For as far back as history there has women have always struggled to rise above the expectations that they can only be wives and mothers. Society conditions women from a young age; teaching that girls play with dolls and boys play with trucks, that “ladies” do not lift up their dresses in public and that Daddies go to work while Mommies take care of the children. Regardless of how progressive or feminist a family is, a woman will still encounter stereotypical gender roles and biases in society. Although laws restricting women from leading lives equal to men have been changed there are still social boundaries that many women could -but choose not to-cross. Today women can take a stand for equality, but no one has figured out the best way to take action.
There was Jane the daughter who did not care about being beautiful or noticed. She kept the company of one girl who tried to make herself out as the popular girl that everyone wanted and made everyone think she put out just to be popular. Ricky who saw beauty in the smallest plainest things, that everyone tagged as weird and crazy. I feel ane and Ricky were the only two in the whole movie who did not conflict with each other. The biggest conflict throughout the whole movie was a major communication issue in all ways.
He was the most important person that led Emily’s behavior and made her act the way she did. Even when her father had died, Emily was still under his control. Because of the pressure that Emily’s father put on her, Emily’s mind and even her actions became very strange and altered. Emily’s father not only controlled her actions and how she felt about things, but he also affected her love and relationships with other men. Her father had said, “None of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such.” (364) Her father never allowed her to make her own decisions even when she was almost 30 years old.
