Out of love, his parents have made choices to not only protect Paul but to keep him shielded from decision-making knowledge of events, and subjects that they didn’t want him to be exposed to. While his parents may have thought their decisions were more positive then negative, they showed their lack of faith in Paul. They were shielding him from adult information and decisions. They were ultimately limiting his ability to grow-up. Mom made the first choice.

Malcom X did not have the same lifestyle that Martin had the ability to grow up with. He appears to be lonely and sad, and he just lets the days pass by without a care in the world. He went through a rough childhood with his father being an alcoholic, and he got shot in the knee when he went into the army; could never walk the same way. The novel begins on Eddie's 83rd birthday, where unfortunately, that same day, he gets killed by a falling cart because of trying to save a little girl from being hit. He does not manage to get out of the way soon enough and dies. When he awakes in heaven, he meets five people who guide him and each person teaches him a lesson.
Later on while Temujin was just a young boy his father, Yesugi, had his food poisoned by the Tartars and died leaving behind 2 wives and 7 children, none being older than 10. The tribe seeing no benefit in housing 2 widows and 7 children cut them off from the family and left them to die. Only one old man protested against this act and was speared for doing so, Temujin of the age of 10 saw his first death. Even after the tribe has deserted the Hoelun and her children she did not let them die. Hoelun scavenged what food she could find and the children and Temujin also helped.

On the night the baby was born, the villagers raided the house. It was nearly destroyed. The family cursed the aunt; she became a “ghost” as if she was never born.
After she was seen, she came out with two missing teeth and a swollen jaw. On our way home there was a horrible wreck on Interstate 10, there were people and sirens everywhere…my portrait of the city wasn’t so great. About 2 years later, my uncle fell sick and the local hospital couldn’t do him any good, they rushed him to the VA hospital in New Orleans…where he later died. Again my view of the city wasn’t so great. A couple more years passed, by this time I was a senior in high school and Senior skip day was approaching and all the students wanted to skip to New Orleans.
The next morning, my Aunt and Nana came into my room with unreadable expressions; they then proceeded to explain that my Dad had died. I remember feeling like my heart had been wrenched out of my chest. I ran from what they said with uncontrollable tears and sobs escaping my body. I did not want to hear it, nor did I believe it. I had to get away.
