In 1916 Alfred Stieglitz , her soon to be husband, gave her the opportunity to show her artwork in his gallery the “291”. And in 1917 he gave O’Keeffe her first solo exhibition. In 1924 Stieglitz and O’Keeffe married even though their marriage was an unconventional one. The reason for this being is because Stieglitz was more at home in New York while O’Keeffe preferred the landscape of the southwest in which she drew inspiration for her artworks. In the mid-1920’s she had become known as one of America’s most important artists during this time she was painting New York skyscrapers and large upscale depictions of flowers as if seen up-close.
Picasso’s African-influenced Period begins with the four figures in his painting, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. He was inspired by African artifacts. Formal ideas developed during this period lead directly into the Cubist period that follows. Pablo Pacasso believed that the traditions of Western art had become exhausted and another remedy they applied to revitalize their work was to draw on the expressive energy of art from other cultures especially African art. However, they valued them superficially for their expressive style.

During the next couple of years, Hine photographed refugees and displaced civilians in war torn Europe. Hine returned to New York City in 1920 and was assigned to the American Red Cross National Headquarters. Hine’s advertising publicity now read "Lewis Wickes Hine, Interpretive Photography" and reflected Hine’s belief in the symbolic and artistic aspect of his work. This belief may have been reinforced by a visit in 1921 to an exhibit of photographs by Alfred Stieglitz. During the 1920’s, Hine returned to Ellis Island, doing assignments for various agencies and publications.
Saralyn Wilson Mr. Birney April 25, 2012 Fernando Llort Fernando Llort is known as the most famous artist is El Salvador. He was born on April 7th 1949 in San Salvador. He is the son of Baltasar Llort and Victoria Choussy. He studied architecture at the University of El Salvador. When he was in Europe he figured out that he wanted to be an artist and went to Louisiana to study art.
Lee graduated from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania with a degree in chemical engineering. He married in 1927 to Doris Emrick, a talented painter. During this marriage, Lee was inspired to begin painting and so he enrolled for a course at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco from 1929-1931. Then he joined Arts Student League in New York from 1931-1935. Struggling with painting, he bought a camera as an aid for his work, but soon became interested with photography alone.
After growing up in Depression-era America in and around Washington, D.C., Taylor studied painting at Syracuse University. His education was funded off of a swimming scholarship. It was at Syracuse he first became interested in dance. His first debut was in 1950 when partnered with a classmate in the school's modern dance club recital. To years later, he moved to New York to further his dance studies with scholarships at Juilliard School of Music Dance Department and Connecticut College School of Dance.

In 1802, he married Maria Teresa Rodriguez who died shortly in Venezuela where they had visited in 1803. Bolivar returned to Europe to engage himself in educational and political world he had found fascinating. There he kept in touch with scholars such as Alejandro Humboldt, and Bonpland, and military men such as Napoleon and attended many conferences. In 1806, Napoleon named Bonaparte King of Spain and its colonies which included Venezuela.
At this time the new minister of public education was Jose Vasconcelos. He initiated a national program of popular education which included adding mural art to public buildings. In November of 1921, he offered Rivera an indoor wall at the National Preparatory School (Fabulous life Diego Rivera pg 133). Just before Rivera began working on his first mural, he and other artists traveled to the Yucatan to study Mayan ruins at Uxmal and Chichen Itza. Rivera took many of sketches of the landscape the huts and the underground rivers where he was amazed of such beauty he saw and he made numerous sketches of the indigenous people.
Who is Marc Chagall? Chagall is a Belarusian painter, who was born in on July 7, 1887 in present day Belarus and developed an interest in art early on in his life. In 1907 he left Russia for Paris and stayed there until 1914 when he returned to Vitebsk for a visit and then was trapped in Russia during the outbreak of WWI. Chagall returned to France in 1923 until he was forced to leave because of the Nazis invading France during WWII. He went on to visit America for many year then he decided to head back to France in 1948.
