Moral Ambiguity Morality, a person’s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do, is a foundation to one’s character. Passed down through different time eras, morals have adapted while ultimately containing the same basic function of judgment between right from wrong. Euripides’ Medea and Shakespeare’s The Tempest come from explicitly different time periods, yet a common theme of a dearth of morality is expressed in both stories. Medea ravaged by a desire of revenge on her ex-husband and Prospero who, “by foul play, as thou say’st, were we heav’d thence” (76), desired to seek revenge on those who ousted him from power nearly twelve years ago. Prospero using a tempest to shipwreck is previous offenders and plotting to sabotage them, and Medea plotting to kill Jason’s new female interest and her kids to avenge her husband’s mistreatment, are both using unjust acts to retaliate their offenders.
(page 234) .Misfit says that he knows that his dad died because of flu. So, he was punished wrongly. He says, “I found out the crime don’t matter. You can do one thing or you can do another, kill a man, because sooner or later you’re going to forget what it was you done and just punished for it” (page 235). Here he says that weather you kill people or take tire of car you will be punished anyway and when you will be punished you will forgot what you did and will be punished for no reason.
And also, Khoun used sex to trade for Kien’s freedom because he had been caught from escaping, and revenged on Lam that he raped Kien. There are possibilities for some high school students to get the wrong message that having sex with some other people could be a way to revenge on those who had hurt them before. Revenge is an inappropriate action, and the way those characters in the book to revenge on other are inhumanity result of war. Hamlet has now taken this personal with his own desires for revenge, as well as his obligation to his deceased father. Likewise, Fortinbras also seeks revenge for his father’s death. Horatio is informing Marcellus and Bernardo as to why they are guarding the gates. He tells them the history of the Fortinbras family, “Dar’d to the combat; in which our valiant Hamlet /…Did slay this Fortinbras” (I.i.87-89). This is explaining the reason young Fortinbras has for revenge.
Schools are places where bullying, mockery, intimidation, degradation, corporal abuse and group isolation are very common. About 30% youth in America are predicted to be mixed up with bullying either as a bully, a victim or can be both a target of bullying and a bully at the same time. (safeyouth.org) those who shoot are among the victims who are tormented on daily basis by their mates. Killing, then, becomes an act of revenge to them. Due to the physical, psychological and emotional pain inflicted to them by their bullies.
There has been a wide spread of bullying all across the globe especially in the United States. The educators, lawmakers, and researchers are trying to behead this epidemic as it has a major impact on adolescents’ lives. Many adolescents think that bullying is fun and amusing until it happens to them. The three components or types of bullying behavior as observed by researchers are as follows; it must be intended to cause bodily harm, it must done intentionally to a person, and must be done on an ongoing basis. A victim must also recognize the difference of power between him or her and the bully.
Bullying does not just affect the victim, inadvertently; it affects everyone the victim is associated with too. Bullying should be seen as a crime because it ruins the targets chances at a normal and happy childhood, which everyone is rightfully entitled to, it destroys children’s and adolescents self-esteem, puts them into a depression, they may stop attending school which will in turn lower their grades, and it can even lead to self-harm and suicide. Usually children look forward to making friends at school and playing games with others, but if a child is bullied, they then become an outcast and slowly start reproaching socializing with society. The ones who have been bullied are usually the more subdued and quiet children. They probably do not speak in class or in a group and usually tend to avoid team sports and activities because they do not want to be chosen last.
In my research I suggest that we look at the emotional response that the bully receives from their actions. Being a Bully for Self Gratification? Research into a Bully’s Emotions Bullying has become a global epidemic. In today’s technical age we are presented with a larger playing field in which bullying can happen. In past studies the focus of bullying has been on the victim and the emotional damage they felt from being bullied.
Shakespeare's Presentation of Othello as Responsible for his Own Downfall Shakespeare’s Othello consists of the themes betrayal, love and dishonesty. At the centre of this play is the tragic downfall of Othello at the hands of his so called friend Iago. In this essay I will be discussing the reasons for and against Othello being responsible for his downfall through looking at critical interpretations of his character and actions. In some ways you could say that Othello was highly responsible for his own downfall as he was easily manipulated by Iago showing him to be gullible and naïve. Iago manipulates Othello by making him suspicious through inference, “Ha I like not that”.
