Schools are in part, at fault for this problem. It seems that now, more than ever, funding has become an issue of dire importance. With the increasing burden of NCLB, schools are trying to make the most of every penny while the tax payers are more scrutinizing of every penny spent. Mismanagement of funds has become a common occurrence and there is not a shortage of stories in the papers every week about the subject. Also, potential woes from poor management and poor choices only hurt the students.
Children always have the need to satisfy their parents. For example, if you have a mother as a doctor and a father as a lawyer, the child feels like they would have to live up to their expectations. Even a child whose parents are uneducated they may face pressure to be the first to break through and succeed for their family and/or community. The stress from these can lead to depression where a child may drop out altogether, burnout, or do anything necessary to fulfill the expectations of others that mean well for the child and their future. Society is another huge cause of pressure.
The main reason of procrastinating is laziness. Most of the students when they for example get the assignment put it off to the side and do it "later".But that "later" becomes right before the due date or deadline .Still there are many more causes like the fear of failure. It makes you repel the task so that you never have to know this feeling of failure.Or the fear of success it can seem really weird but, but the fear of the success is one of the reason of procrastination. For example, some procrastinators are afraid that by beginning to work at top speed, they cannot stop any more and will become drug-addicts of the work. Indeed, for the procrastinator, if the procrastination is a compulsive act, then the opposite ( the working desire) is also true. He then imagines to have to spend time in front of the computer or in the library to work, without ever getting out to see his(her) friends. The procrastinators are also sometimes afraid, them who are afraid of the success are also afraid that their personality changes if they work too much.
Children today do not have to deal with as much stress. I know that schools and teachers today are expecting a lot more out of kids which does cause pressure. During the depression children were expected to take care of their siblings and household chores. They were exposed to more parental conflict and unhappiness then many children today. This caused them to develop emotional difficulties and poor attitudes toward school and work.
How should teachers award and punish their students? Teaching children is a very hard job, not only for parents but also for teachers since some children do not obey their words most the time. In order to let the children be more obedient, parents and teachers may use different kinds of method to encourage or penalize the children. Being a tutorial teacher for a year, I have taught a number of students and also realized some methods are very effective. In case, the student does not obey my instruction, positive punishment, which is the application of an unfavorable stimulus after an undesirable behavior in order to decreases that response, is a very useful method and the result can be shown shortly.
This adds pressure to the teacher’s day as they then have to supervise them. The teacher has to ensure that they are being effectively used to enhance the learning of the student with diverse needs. Funding challenges for extra resources are another area that the teacher has to allow time for. Meeting these challenges leads to increased stress for teachers as “many mainstream teachers report that they do not have the time, training, experience; personal resources and/or access to professional development that they need to feel confident about teaching students with a disability in a mainstream class” (Shaddock., et.al, 2007). Research shows that a major concern for teachers is their lack of time for planning and the demands students with
However, some disruptions are unpreventable and inevitable and strategies need to been in place to deal with these when they occur. One classroom condition that a teacher has no control over with the growing populations of students is large class sizes. Large classes will only add to difficulty of classroom management as there are potentially more students to create disruptions. It is the teacher’s responsibility to keep the students engaged to avoid students losing interest which could lead to misbehaviors. Spencer Kagan, Patricia Kyle, and Sally Scott provide that disruptions and misbehaviors can be prevented by, “An interesting, stimulating teacher who adapts the curriculum to student interests and needs” (Charles, 2008, p. 155).
One of the cons of attending public schools is the issue of having more students to teacher ratio, and for some students that can be a problem, because they need more of a one-on-one learning environment to understand what is taught to them. Having distractions can be a major problem for them and cause them to fail at their education. No parent wants that for their child.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHARACTERISTICS 3 Young adults that are entering middle are most likely going through the most powerful changes they will ever go through in life. There are so many factors that contribute to a middle school student’s reactions and behaviors. Young middle school children/young adults are basically rapidly changing bodies that have a hurricane of mental issues, insecurities, anxieties, hormonal changes, and a plethora of emotions inside them. To top off everything, middle school students do not understand what they are going through physically, mentally, and emotionally which makes their attitudes much more dramatic. As future middle school teachers, we have to be able to identify these changes, expect them, learn how to deal with them comfortably and most of all, be patient with them.
This could be a struggle because some parents live their dreams through their children and that pressures them to do more than they are capable of doing. More stress is being added to that because they want to have friends and make their parents happy and it can be hard for them to make time for studying and hanging out with friends. Most times these teens have a fear of failure and are under a lot of stress. If they feel like they have failed at something that their parents would be disappointed about they could feel like they aren’t good enough or just have unhealthy thoughts about themselves and they could end up being depressed or will do unhealthy things. Peer pressure is another challenge teenagers face.
