Whole Foods Market Case Study 1. What are the chief elements of the strategy that Whole Foods Market is pursuing? Whole Food’s overall strategy is to provide healthy and quality foods to populous, hence it’s slogan, “Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet”. They are striving to do so at the cheapest price possible, while maintaining a profit. As in any company, it has a set of strategies for each element to obtain the greater one. Growth and location are major strategies within Whole Foods. To be the provider of “the Whole Planet”, it needs to find ways to grow as a company as a whole as well as it’s locations. They are doing this by acquiring and procuring premier real estate sites in high traffic areas of higher metropolitan areas. By doing this, they are able to appeal to the higher educated populous and draw some appeal from the surrounding areas. Their product line is made up of natural, organic, and gourmet foods. The volume and distinct line of each location is strategically constructed on the basis of the surrounding populous. In doing so, they are making the products that an area would demand readily available to it. Their pricing strategy has allowed them to be competitive and offer the cheapest prices they can to retain their current clientele as well as draw in would be shoppers. They have arrived at this by working with suppliers to obtain the lowest costs. In addition, they monitor any and all competitors and evaluate their prices in accordance to their’s as well as devise group items to cut costs even further for the shoppers. In addition to these, they base their company on their core values. These are the true chief elements that are the base to their strategy. They wish to provide healthy quality foods to the world.
