The movie “Smoke Signals” is directed by Chris Eyre (1998). The story of the movie is taken at Coeur D’Alene Indian Reservation. The main two characters of this movie are “Victor” and “Thomas”. Victor is the son of “Arnold” (father) and “Arlene” (mother). I think that the movie is focusing on the past image of Native American. In the movie, Thomas is a storyteller, who always enjoys telling a story although it is not the fact story. Thomas’s father and mother have died from a house fire. But luckily Thomas was saved by Arnold. Thus I think Thomas respects Arnold because Arnold saves his life. Thomas and Victor grow up together. Thomas lives with his grandmother. While on the other hand, Victor lives with his father and mother. Victor gets irritated with Thomas when he starts to talk. Victor loves to play basketball but I think that he is upset with his father’s domestic violence. It seems that Victor has a deep love but as well as bitter relationship with his father.…show more content…

Although they are dealing with the issues, they all are trying to be happy with their life. But one day, Victor’s mother gets the call from Phoenix, Arizona that her husband is no longer in the world. When Victor hears this news he gets upset but he does not have enough money to visit there. With the help of Thomas, Victor and Thomas visits to Phoenix. During their trip, Thomas starts to tell stories which irritate Victor. Thus Victor starts to state about how Indian should represent so white people will not treat them as a lower class.
