So what is a whistle blower? According to Black’s Law Dictionary, a whistleblower is an employee who turns against their superiors to bring a[n] problem out in the open. BusinessDictionary.com states that a whistle blower is a person who discloses improper or criminal activity within an organization. Finally, under Sarbanes Oxley, “A “whistleblower” is someone, usually an employee, who reports an employer who has broken the law to an outside agency.” Under this very important act, whistleblowers are protected by federal and state laws. Employers may not retaliate against them for reporting misconduct.

Now retired "Clemson University organic chemist John H. Huffman, a leading scientist in synthetic cannibinoid development, made more than 450 cannibinoid compounds to help advance the treatment of serious ailments like multiple sclerosis, AIDS, and cancer" (Griep, 2013). In an interview with ABC News, Huffman explains that his research apparently fell into the wrong hands, but "doubts that a ban on the substances will keep kids away from it". Organic marijuana has been illegal since 1937, he points out, yet many have completely disregarded those laws. Therefore, prohibition of spice could have a similar outcome. Huffman contrasts the two substances, describing the effects of synthetic cannabinoids as " anecdotal, and comes from things like visits to emergency rooms."

An internal whistleblower reports the misconduct to another person working within the place of business, such as another employee or a superior. An externalwhistleblower, however, reports the misconduct to an outside agency, such as the media, a lawyer, law enforcement, or special protective agencies. In many countries, the whistleblower is protected by law. The United Kingdom, for example, passed the Public Interest Disclosure Act in 1998. Keeping marijuana illegal is quite expensive. By legalizing marijuana it will save the government a lot of money. According to a study done by George Mason University in 2007, $113 billion was spent on marijuana by U.S. citizens; all of which went untaxed and the government collected nothing from it (Armentano, 2012, para. 10). All of the government: federal, state and local participate in “War on Drugs.” Currently, Americans spend billions of dollars due to the fact that marijuana is not legal.
Definitions and conditions of whistleblowing “A whistleblower is an individual that believes that his or her organization is engaged in or willingly permits unethical, unlawful or otherwise reprehensible activities. Whistleblowers bring attention to the objectionable activity and attempt to effect change. Whistleblowers generally report these actions internally and may ultimately resort to reporting these activities to external authorities or interested parties.” (http:cosign.scu. edu505set01003WhistleblowerProfile.htm) In the essay “Whistleblowing and Professional Responsibility” published in Ethical Theory and Business (1995), Bok spells out the conditions needed for whistleblowing. So why do people addicted to inhaling an insecticide, a common ingredient in organic bug sprays, believe they have a right to spew noxious, toxic, carcinogenic fumes all over the place in public?” Many arguments can be made against smoking bans, but more arguments can be made for them. According to Leading Issues Timelines, smoking originated with the Mayans around 1,000 BCE. It was originally used for medicinal and ceremonial purposes. Smoking started being abused in 1492, in Spain and has been used ever since.
Also, secondhand smoke could be a problem too. A couple solutions to this problem are to stop the media promoting smoking and to educate teens about smoking and how it's bad for you. Cigarette smoking is the greatest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. Secondhand smoke causes numerous lung cancer deaths annually. Measures have been taken in both workplaces and public places to limit exposure to secondhand smoke.
