WORDSHIP AND WORSHIP ANALYZING A.W. TOZER Zack Lazo MUSC 200 - 001 February 10th, 2015 A.W. Tozer’s Whatever Happened to Worship was a powerful read on how to bring what is important back into worship. Throughout this read, he used many powerful quotes to make people think and to tug at their hearts not just to convict, but to show improvements for worship. Tozer emphasizes the power of worshiping God. He criticizes a large number of Christians for their substitutes for worship. The reason for man’s existence is to worship God for how loving he is. What man does in the day must be somehow focused toward worshiping God in order to fill the role in his creation. Humans lack true worship for a few reasons. People forget the character of God. Tozer said “Every glimpse that is given us of heaven and of God’s created being is always a glimpse of worship and rejoicing and praise because God is who he is.” He mentions materialism and how man is too attached to this…show more content…
We are not allowed to choose what we like to worship and rejected what we do not like. We cannot just worship God for what he has done but also for what he will do. The ideal state of worship is to be close to Isaiah like he was in chapter six of that book of the Bible. When we are lost we need to seek (and hope to find) the holiness of God and become aware of our sin in order to truly worship. Instead of going through the motions at church, we need to truly focus on what we are worshiping. We cannot be worried about someone in the congregation yelling “amen” or “praise the lord”. We cannot be worried about what other people are doing in church. We all worship and honor God separately. It does not matter what other people think of us, because they should not be making an opinion or even paying attention to you during worship. Worship is the time for them to honor God and to not pay attention to what is going on around
